Windows LongHorn!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Considering this OS's release is still a few years down the road, i doubt you're really playing with anything special now, Aod. Mainly just some nice visual tweaks And im sure there will be a lot more cool stuff revealed about Longhorn.

I aquired a beta copy 3 months ago from thailand...never took the risk of installing it though....a lesson I learnt with a Beta copy of Win98....screwed up my computer good and proper.

Anyone know the major differences in Longhorn? (Long-haul?)

well yes its does look nicer, but it actually
runs faster than XP, when's the full version
gonna be realesed, its really good, but its
takes up 3.00Gb of HDD space, so i gotta
buy a new 40Gb HDD, but they're cheap(ish)

i don't think i'm really eager to get longhorn.. yet. i still got doubts as to whether or not i should get winXP pro. but good for you, beta test.. i nvr beta tested anything in my life before.

Longhorn is supposed to be out around late 2005 to mid 2006, iirc. More likely 2006.

i heard something a while back about a whole new file system which is supposed to be a synch to secure and about 3 times as faster to use, while still visually looking the same way as previous versions.

There was a whole article about it in PCGamer a few months back but my copy is at home. I think its gonna be alot better for gaming as well, i will definately get it, just because i always get the new OS eventually

From what I just read, it will still have some NTFS parts to it. Not completely new.

Not another windows. Bill Gates must have run out of ideas by now. They're making these things like crazy.

Long horn dosent like FAT formatted disks,
but it has an integrated version of internet
explorer, that loads pages like lightning...
it does have a special way of storing files
on the HDD, it has extreemly fast file location
like faster than XP, it runs games better than
XP due to the fast file locating... but thats
obvious, its still very nice , and looks the
part

I can see the pic, though screenshots don't mean squat with OS's. However I was kinda hoping that would get rid of naming drives with letters though, I like to keep a lot of mapped drives on my work machine and 26 just ain't enough.
