The meteor showers would definitely be worth seeing. I have a good 35mm cam with tripod and plan on trying it out.

good luck photographing clouds.

all these celestial events are total washouts, i never get to see any of them, it's either cloudy or raining or i'm asleep. Now I just don't get worked up about them, there's no point.

@Taw, I'm about 20 miles south of atlanta and no city lights around which gives me a good night sky view. I'm hoping for a clear sky then. The stars are real bright at night.

the gemenids were good last year
saw them on the way back from the pub and stayed up for hours on the boat drinking coffee with whisky watching them

I wonder where the best region for viewing the meteor showers will be? Probably not Australia (as usual) .

well it certainly isn't from my back garden. my poor misguided daughter spends many a night out the back for several hours looking for the latest celestial event and usually comes in cold and bedraggled having observed nothing but clouds and some drunks on the way home, silly girl. Honestly i think Patrick Moore just taunts us with this stuff.

I will agree with Taw on this matter.......just clouds

Todays "Sad but True" tale: Down here in the bush, where I make my home, upwards of 6000 people turned up to watch some metor thing or such, last min, the clouds roll in and open up, soaking everybody, strangely enough, one guy stayed, till this "space rock" lands not twenty meters from him. After it cooled I took it home and kept it as a handy round...thing. That guy must still be cursing

I don't know what you mean, Griff. I never see anything! Mmm, actually it could be because I live in suburban Melbourne. Oh yeah, I don't have a telescope. I knew I was missing something!
