This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Warlord Bob''s X2 Help Thread

I am getting readt to explode. X2. I started playing it. All is well. My joystick is a logitech wingman force 3d. I installed it's software so as to calibrate it... and now X2 ignores it. It might as well be unplugged!!! I sent angry e-mail to logitech folks.

Problem 2. I saved my game in home of light at the begining after the chick gave me the computr parts. But, now I CANNOT SAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to be in a station right? Well if you hit "esc" to get the menue with the save option you leave! If you hit cnrtl-s it doesn't do it!

This game has no learning curve... it's f'n vertical! HElP mEEEeeEeEEEe!!!1!!1!

logitec is the best

once apon a time little wolfy had a microsuckit controller and every time little wolfy went to use it he had to put in the windows 98 cd in to install the drive....then it didnt even detect one was there, so wolfy got pissed and brought it back.....for that day was a happy day. why you ask? well he came back with a wireless logitec controller that even came with its own drive install CD.

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?
its in the way

First, may I ask what version of X2 you have. Do you have the patch 1.2? It fixes some joystick problems I've heard, but you must be registered at www.egosoft.com, to get it and to view the tech support forums where you may also find help.

As for saving, whenever you dock at a station it autosaves as Save number 20 so if you scroll down the list of save games you will see it at the very bottom. Not sure what you mean by esc thing, once you enter a station, then press escape it auto docks you and the menu comes up, you should be able to save from there from options. If you press escape again THEN it launches.

EDIT - Oh, and Esq or Nickless if I so much as see you on this thread, well woe betide ye, thats all.

@Wolfy - about logitech... I thought so too . I still love thier kb/mouse tho

@Griff - A patch eh? Well, worth a shot. Thanks for the save info. Hiding down there on number 20. Hmph!

EDIT: That's it for logitech. I gave thier tech support a chance to make everything alright and they blew it big time. Basicly, they said "make shure it works in windows by doing what you just told us you did. If that doesn't work, try out silly automated website." I'm in a bad mood over this.

be aware that to get the patch when you register you need to enter the reg code in your profile of your game (think its diff to Installation code, not sure)

if ur computer doenst detect it altogether than it is defective, so bring it back

Heh. Downloaded the patch and everything works now

So, on to gameplay questions...
I'm in Bennet's triumph (or sumthin like that) at the old earth gate. I can get to the center of the gate without being blown up, but now what? I am suposed to scan it I think, but how?

for starters look at options and see the keyboard controls -if there is any

So you got past the mines?

You need to eject from your ship (Shift+E) and fly right up to it in your space suit so your nose is almost touching.
Once close enough you will get a movie...find out the rest for yourself
To get back into ship target it, get withing 30M of it and press Shift+E again.

Anyway, don't have your hopes in the plot being great, its short, and not exactly brilliant. The game doesn't focus on the story, and once the Khaak (threat) come from the story missions they stay the rest of the game! The games main focus is well really doing what you want, building an empire of Factories, having your own economy (requires alot of thinking), build your own massive fleet, go hunt khaak, or earn a living a different way by shooting pirates or other ships until they bail, so you can sell their ships. Alternatively you could get a Police licence so that every pirate you kill gives you money. Or you could just buy a destroyer and kill everything that moves in every sector

Anyway, don't hesitate to email me or post here any other questions you have.

Bob, full walkthrough for all SP missions here : http://www.the-commander.com/x2mainstorypart1.htm
Don't worry, it has them under each part so you only need to see the part your at.

Edit - actually it only has it up to part ten..

Bob One tip, Go for the lottery if you win it, you get more money then you ever dreamed of.

as for the gameplay, it is advisable to play at least the first two tutorials, they will show you the basic functioning of your ship. BEWARE: they will not show you the key bindings. You will still have to find that out for yourself, But remember that <T> is always used for targetting. It is also advisable that you just play for your own sakes, the trading system is very advanced, and trust me the feeling of owning your own M2 Destroyer Class ship is fantastic especially when you have it maxed out, with full shields, it gives you a sense of power. I have one and I allready have it maxed out and I destroyed three Pirate Bases without much resistance nor physical damage.

Thanks guys

I plan to get a police licence and hunt the ships defined as "Pirate ship". If they bail, I have another freighter. If they die, I get paid . I'm glad to know it's possible to sell ships, but I haven't yet figured out how to do it. I'm about to go play so I'll let you know If I discover anything on that.

Try to get the Orinoccos rather than just the "Pirate ships" they will show up as "Pirate Orinocco"

I had an absolute bollocks of a time with this game last night. I finally saved enough scratch to open a silicon mine in Ringo Moon, also sold my Disco to raise the necessary money. Anyway I was casually delivering energy cells to my plant in my under armoured Mercury when one of those bloody alien ships parked itself outside my Mine. Now I can't leave without it killing me and as per usual I didn't save any backup games so now I have to start over fresh.

Fortunately I found a way to get 350 large out of the second mission.
