Wolfy you really are a total twonk. You know by now you just cant say" me thingys not working" and suddenly expect the right answer to fall out of the sky. Now as it is I have a pretty good idea of wots wrong but before we get there, you need to tell us the following

1/ make and model of router please
2/ what sort of intenet connection you have, DSL or cable. if its DSL does it operate on a dial-up basis?
3/ hows your router connected to the b'band modem? yes I know is the ports on the back, which one?
4/ have you installed any networking components at all? W98 will not virtually auto-detect the connection like XP does, you need to tell it.
5/ what if any configurations you have in your tcp/ip and dns settings?
6/ whats the IP address you've been assigned by the ISP? (Bresnan)

does this mean currently that you dont have access to email? I'd prefer you to discuss this with me and your other TLR online support staff via email as I'm trying to put a brake on this forum turning into a support centre which is jolly boring at the end of the day.

put in the WAN or Uplink port for starters.

then we'll move onto the next bit.

wan = wide area network.

ok Wolfingel, you run the ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port on the router, you then start at the highest numbered port and run an ethernet cable from there to your first PC, then the next port run another cable to your next PC and so on (until you run out of ports if you need that many)

once done that you have to log into your router from your primary PC and configure it there to accept the range of IP addresses your going to use, including the one from your ISP. Mail me the details and I'll tell you how to do it, it's either browser based or telnet depending on what make and model of router it is.

after that you need to configure Windows networking. don't worry I'll tell you how to do that as well. you'll need tp provide the ISPs domain, presumably bresnan.com but you'll have to confirm it.

dont worry Uncle Taw will send you some pictures of what to do, in the e-mail, with step-by-step Wolfy-proof instructions.
