Yes, back in the 1890's i think it was, coca cola really did contain TRACE amounts of cocaine - something to do with the colouration too i think. They now use caramel derivatives
FACT: COCA COLA WILL DISOLVE TEETH. Give a small tooth around 5 days in a glass of coke and it will dissolve (FF - read the whole thread, it says overnight! Trust me, i have a degree in chemistry )
However, your saliva is ever so slightly alakaline, so if you know your very basic chemistry from when you were 10 years old, it will help to 'neutralise' the acid instead. The sugar is more likely to damage your teeth really - but then again, get addicted to the chewing gum (sugar free of course - warning - a few packs a day and you will notice the slight laxative effect of sugar free products).
Smoking - i used to smoke between 20 - 40 a day, and also teach kids why they shouldn't. Apart from the 1200 chemicals that are added for things including flavour), they find many things in there that.........well.......shouldn't. There are more carcinognic things inside a little fag that you can shake your finger at. I am glad i quit, for no other reason then i have some money (well, i don't, but i coulda saved over 10 grand if i had never started smoking!!!- erm, english pounds - around $14000 to you yanks ).
I won't list what is in cigarettes, cause you can find out yourself, but strictly speaking, when it containst some cyanide derivatives, you know its bad

I have 12 cups of tea a day and don't cope well without at least 1 every waking hour. That's proper tea not that weird poncey stuff with different flavours n stuff, I mean Ty-Phoo, PG, Morrison's own brand, proper man's tea. In a big mug with 3 heaped sugars and lots of full-fat milk.
I also don't cope well without a bacon sandwich and a meat pie every day.

aaah proper builders tea eh Taw?!
Note to anyone who ever meets a roadie - he will take his tea dark with 2 sugars, preferably spoon standing up. When you're on tour thats all you get, its easier than making 20 different types of tea - its strong with 2 sugars or a dirty mug of water, the choice is yours

Ah Tea is my life fuel - hmm - how many cups? Not sure - too many. I used to drink tons of coffee - at least 10 cups a day, but probs more like 20. I do drink good ol fashioned morries own brand tea, or sometimes, when i what a lil ol difference.....some earl grey (the flavour is very "refreshing", even if it does sound gay!).
Tea, no sugars anymore (spoils the flavour), and a splash of milk..........or black - cause right now i have no milk. Black tea is still nice too

In case you actually still care about your Coca Cola habit, it is a combination of caffeine and the sugar, mainly, that's making you cranky when without. You are going through a withdrawal... chiefly of the caffeine.
More commonly, caffeine withdrawal generates low intensity migraine-like headaches. The sugar fix is less certain. Generally, you will feel the need to eat if you deprive yourself of the high dose of sugars you've been ingesting.
I assume that you're still young so it probably doesn't matter too much to you right now but, over the long haul, over-consumption of caffeine can contribute to a problem with hypertension as you approach middle age and from that point onward. In some population groups, a small but significant population also is susceptible to adult onset diabetes from all that sugar consumption, but, again middle age plus in years.
If you're really serious about it, rather than substitute one source of caffeine from another, you should actively consider reducing your level of consumption.
First try for only 1.5 liters a day. Then down to 1 liter, etc., etc.
If you really don't care. Apologies to you and to all for resurrecting an otherwise dead thread.
