If you want to live forever you can't just say you believe in Jesus' sacrifice;
you must also "strip off the old personality and put on the new"
meaning oyu must change your ways.
The bible says
"Let not a rotten saying utter forth from your mouth."
"Return evil for evil to no one."
"Honor your father and your mother."
the most important commandment is that you love your god JEHOVAH with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
the second most important commandment is that you love your neighbor as yourself.
If you want more encouraging sayings let me know.

There are none righteous, no, not one..
For all have sined and come short ....
salvation - It is the gift of God, not of works lest any man boast...
God is not willing that any man should perish....
If thou belivest, thou may (be baptised)

Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteaousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Edit - Addition - Hebrews 9:27 And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Rob, I love your penguin and Yeti!

I eventually (by a mis-hit) got 586.1, a low trajectory seems to favour longer hits and the penguin skidded on the ice and bumped the last few metres, before that I was getting 490s.

Off-Topic: @Stinger, I hit 596,1 and Taw is right if you make it skid a bit it will go further.

On-Topic: As I am a terrible Heathen (not atheist), I can not understand what it is with Christianity,
But what Griffon decribed has got to be the most hypocryt idiot I have ever heard of.

hehe, like the intricate workins of a tachyon pulse deflector shield you mean? yeah i kinda DID think it was more complicated. i simplified it for humor purposes.. You understand?

now this is getting faaarr too religious, I know, but,

Alot of Christians are no different to atheists and other people, they have turned christianity into the religion it is today. Christianity is NOT about being good, its not about saying "sorry" to get into heaven, its not about just beleiving and thats it. Christianity is to follow Christ, to give up everything you have to follow Christ. Is that a big ask? Yes is certainly is and I can say that most Christians today cannot do this, but its the heart that counts. Alot of people are forgetting the main principle involved in Christianity, and thats love. You need to love him.
Thats where most Christians go wrong, they beleive, say sorry, but they don't love.

Arcon, you say you can become a Christian tomorrow and not feel a difference. I garantee you that if you make God number 1 priorty, make him the head of your life, you WILL feel a change. Will you be able to do this though? Nup....

you know, i was going to post something scathing at this point, but now I'm here, I can't think of anything to write..

Christians in this day and age WILL have something to answer for. They have done a lot of damage. But that does not stop the Bible from being true, nor God's grace from being real. HE said, let God be true, but every man a liar. I pray the true believers in God repent while they still can, and obey God. And He said, if you love me, keep my commandments.

enuf said.

@Griff: i COULD do it, seriously. I dont beacause i think its a load of phooey. But i wanted to stay objective. I think any religion that tells you how to live your life day-by-day is no better than a totalitarian dictatorship, its like "the party" in 1984, you have no coice but to follow. Religion is and i think always has been about giving people pointers. Teachings about how to live your life. Like when your mum tells you not to fight with your brother or how your brought up to be nice to people, not just friends. Its guidelines to life and how to treat others. The whole creation myth and this that an the other is a backstory, a way of setting up the "speaker" (the guy who sets out the teachings) as the one you SHOULD listen to, a person all knowing so it must be the truth. Thinking about all the religions and disguarding the actual celestial beings part of it, the teachings are basically guidelines to life. Its full of morals and stories with points to them.

Religion is about getting a bunch of people beleiving that treating people fair and good is what the most powerful being in existance WANTS from you, and if you ARE nice, courteous and kind you'll spend eternity in paradise with loved ones. If not you will pay for the badness you caused. They all reward good kids and punish the bad. Its a way of keeping people to do what theyre told.

Its with THIS beleif that i consider i could be a good Christian, or a good Jew, or a good Muslim. I dont need to go to a building and listen to a guy prattle on about something, or read from a book or talk about this that and the other, i can watch re-runs of grange hill instead. But if my mum asks me to pop down the shops to get groceries, or my dad wants me to give him a hand fixing some electrics, i'll surely do it, but im not going to hell because i watch naked ladies rub oil on each other, or because i swear like a soldier or i believe homosexuality is fine and dandy, or because sex before mariage is sweet. Its MY personal life and how i conduct it is of no ones concern, and i should think an omniscient being would be as fine with that as i am. What i NEVER do, is purposefully harm, endanger, put out or victimise another person. Ive never been a bully, never picked on anyone, never hurt them (physically OR emotionally). Ive never made someone cry (at least to my knowledge and memory) or made someones life bad in the slightest.

I think religion should be scaled back. The church is a person's heart. You wanna talk to god, thats fine. I think God is a narator of a story, and its a good story, if you ignore the tripped out fantasy.

Final - GOD BLESS!?!?! Which god? Seriously, I'd be careful or you might end up offending someone. I;ve seen it happen.

Frankly, I'm surprised that this thread has gone on as long as it has. I thought that discussing religion was against the forum rules.

@ Arcon - then you are esentially claiming you could live a life like Christs. (Assuming he is exactly how the bible tells of him)

Post Mon Jan 26, 2004 4:57 am

@Griff: sure, why not. although, not the whole preaching, feeding 40,000, curing lepers, smiting evil etc. but i could lead a richeous life no problem. In fact i'll be shocked if on my deathbed if i ever commited a bad act in my whole life. I dont plan on being a **** anytime soon.

@fin: nice poem, but i dont really see what the hell it has to do with anything?
