graaaa!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

graaaa!

Heh, I know this might have gone into General gripes thread, and I know you are probably sick of my "noise" thread titles (first "ugh" and now "graa!"

But anyway I needed to vent how ticked off I am at Christians who (I am a Christian myself) think their Gods gift to christianity. I'm talking about some preacher guys who came to a poor church as guest speakers (air tickets, hotel and meals paid by this poor church) and then live in absolute luxury while the church's money runs dry, and when reprimanded, say "We are called to live in such luxury its in the bible, we are Gods people after all.." WELL NOT WHEN YOUR RUNNING A POOR CHURCH INTO BANKRUPCY BECAUSE YOU HAD TO FLY FIRST CLASS AND STAY AT A 5 STAR HOTEL!!!

Think that was bad? How about some Christian family that "borrowed" $60,000 from another Christian friend of mine. Since they were fellow christians this person trusted them and sold her farm to give them the money, on the condition that they pay it off in 6 months (they are a RICH christian family) it has now been 2 years, and every time my friend asks for her money, she is told she is "sinning" because she can't "invest her money in christ"..................WHAT THE!?!??!?!? Sue them? Yes, of course, she has shown the case to lawyers and friends, but, she wont sue them because she beleives she should leave it up to God to pass judgement on them....they are lucky they are dealing with such a good christian, if it was me I would have kicked their ass by now. She is now living with some sort of Christian institution and paying her portion of the rent by SELLING CHOCOLATES......argh, this stuff really gets me down.....

This sounds more like stupidity, no offense - but those people who borrowed money sounds more like LEECHES than real Christians. I am not a personal Christian, but I think a lot of things are great (charity etc.), and it sucks big time that some assh¤le would take advantage of a kind person like this. I'm not rich myself, but I would never deny helping a fellow if they need help.

There is a phrase, "Do not cast your pearls before swine, they will trample them and then turn and rend you" rend I believe is attack . It is good advice to apply to any charities that you don't know. Check them out first. But don't let bad apples cause you from helping the good ones that are truly in need.

hmph. Griff, my friend, those are NOT Christians. I believe you'll find in your Bible enough descriptions of what they are.

"It's easier for a camel to get throught he eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God"

"You cannot serve God and Mammon"

"give up your possessions and follow me"

need I go on? these are the Pharisees and hypocrites, the rich who pay only lip-service to their faith. You should stand up and denounce them for what they are. Cast them out.

i have a problem with the whole christian establishment.
I could be a christian if i WANTED to. I mean my lifestyle wouldnt really change AT ALL. I know religion is a big no-no when it comes to threads so i wont go into it, but im not a SINNER per-se i live honest and i treat others kindly, i get on well with other people and i listen to what they have to say. The religion should be based around equality, tollerance and friendship. Instead you have people (like Griff's people) who live by the letter of a book that could (in all fairness) have been written centuries later and have been made up. Its followed WORD FOR WORD blindly and withough question. Plus the fact that whenever it was written, they didnt have the society we have now so the book is kind of irrelevant.

Lending people money on the SOUL basis that they are Christian is not, in my mind, a smart thing to do. Just because they follow the book of god doesnt make them good, honest, true to their word and above theivery, it means they spend every Sunday morning in Church. If i was the guy that did the lending i would get some big guys to go around one night and maybe beat the crap out of their car or something, Then ask for his money back. If it comes to it, just dish out the value of money given in damages to their property, but then thats just me, and i wouldnt have lent anyone any money in the first place.

Heaven? i KNOW im getting into heaven, i figured it out YEARS ago, if Jesus died for OUR sins, then were all sin free right? so no matter WHAT you get up to your IN with the big guy.

Post Sat Jan 24, 2004 5:51 pm

Ah, but you see the catch is, that Jesus died, but was then ressurected. So, he didn't actually, die as such, because he came back, and sort of avoided death. So, to summerise: Jesus died briefly for our sins.

Just so long as you believe that he did die for your sins.
I think that's it... :/

i'm kinda glad i'm not into this stuff. i'll just follow the laws of evolution and such and such.
from the sound of things, griff's friends seem to be using religion and not resecting it, (i assume? or worship as they are supposed to.

in all honesty, religion seems to be another means of instilling order in a society and also as a means of getting people together to get to know each other. did i hit on the sheer role of religion ?

EDIT:modders/admins delete/edit this post if you think its all tooooo religiony.

no just because he died for your sins, doesn't mean you can do anything and still get into heaven. you have to believe that he did and repent of those sins.

Post Sun Jan 25, 2004 4:49 am

but as long as there is a "get out of jail" card, a fastrack through, then im ok. Lets face it, the second you wake up and your dead, walking to st. peter in the afterlife i think everyones gonna go "so it WAS real" and 100% beleive that Jesus died for our sins. so if i just hang back until ive got my story straight then i'll be ok. Hell, ive lied to policemen, i can lie to God easy enough . Plus if i dont beleive, i think God will let me in on principal that im such a cool guy.
