Dads Army was a good one very Good,
But my vote would go To, It ain't half Hot,mum anyday

many consider it a follow up to Dads Army

But my personal Faves are:

The two mentioned above ofcourse,
You rang, M'lord??,
'Allo 'Allo,
Are you being served?,

But my two top favorite Comedians are Benny Hill (1924-1992) and Tommy Cooper (1922-1984). They are Genius.

What's all this? Is this a legitimate vote being held in the UK, or is it purely hypothetical?

listen you antipodean colonial, here in the Mother country we take our cheesey cult tv shows seriously. whole power stations have been assigned to provide energy for this latest "Best <fill in with whatever nostalgia is flavour of the week> Ever" and we're all enormously interested in the favourite sitcom from the last 40yrs. no wonder it's confusing for you, all you've got to offer is the Paul Hogan Show. the peak of your televisual programming was Skippy; which now I remember it, another warm flood of nostalgia is filling me loins. I fooking loved that kangaroo...so brave...

"g'day Skip! what's that, girl?"
"cht cht theres..a..kid..trapped...in...the...old...flooded...mine..."
"oi think she's troying to tell us something, Ded.."

brilliant. and why did the helicopter have floats in the middle of the dam bush? I never did figure that out.

It's a bit of a tie for me between Fawlty Towers and Blackadder, Although, I wouldn't define BA as a sitcom.

Taw - I HATE Paul Hogan! However, Australia make great television! Like, erm, erm... aw hell, I can't even convince myself to believe that!

Anyone remembers 'Chef!'? I understand it was not a particularly good one, but Lenny Henry was gold in it.

Post Fri Jan 16, 2004 4:23 am
