I went skiing two years ago and got stuck in amajor trafficjam (talking 60km plus here) due to heavy snowfall before we reached our destination - Austria.

It took us 30 hours to do a 12 hour trip! It snowed so damn hard sometimes you couldn't even see more then 20 meters in front of you and at sometimes it looked like the car was standing still while we actually drove.

had a good two weeks of shiing fun though, first time also and I learned to go from the red slope (<- is that the word?) by the end of the second week.

Edit: Damn spelling.

@steel

@nick yes red runs (black diamonds for our n american friends)

I like "black diamonds" as a term better, because everytime I hear "red runs" (this being the first time I've heard it) I think of a girl who was complaining she was having her period. There's no Mr. Yuck face, I could've used one now.

@sS well i have always felt the most difficult pistes should be referred to as brown runs instead of black/black diamond

I went skiing once, on one of those dry ski slope thingummies, it was great, but I always finished closer to my house than the end of the slope. I can't stop to save my life. Give me real snow, and I'd up skiing all the way home from France.
