Fly a UFO!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

lol, msfs is the worst game (<----- used loosely) I have ever played

Er....its not for people who like entertainment...its for budding pilots. It is one of the...no, THE most realistic game ever. Since its realistic, its gonna be boring to some people of course. It also takes about a year to learn. Real pilots use it for training.

MSFS has nothing on any Jane's flight sim ever. Jane's is the best.

Good?....Bad?......I'm the guy with the gun.

they're all top sims the most realistic has to be Il-2, i mean, you've really got to fly. And keep a look out. And do your mission. And get shot to pieces. All at once, it's really hard!

Idiots, MSFS is not a GAME. It IS the most realistic, I never said the most fun or the most engaging. To actually get anywhere you have decide what type of navigation you are going to fly by. You could choose VOR, or fly with Air Traffic control. Or you could do it by dead reckoning, have a (real flight) chart sitting on your desk and calculate the course, the time it will take, take into account wind, and how much fuel you need, and fly using a compass and spotting landmarks. There are no funny magic huds with waypoints, no magic boxes showing you how to land. There is nothing in the game which is not in real life....and vice versa, to an extent. Do real pilots use Janes whatever or IL2 to practice before a test, say, instrumental flying?

no Il-2 is too hard! no seriously it's got none of that easy-fly-game stuff about it, you really do have to fly on instruments and stuff. Luftwaffe and Soviet veterans who tested it said it was bang on, every detail was right. But it's a combat sim too so you wouldn't expect most real pilots to attempt to use it as a training aid except out of historical interest. MSFS has all the up to date planes and maps and ATC corridors and VHF/UHF beacons and stuff like that, so for current realism there's nothing to compare with it. But as a flight sim I find Il-2 more engaging and challenging even without the combat.

yeah.

I have to admit, MSFS is very realistic in its execution but unfortunately it's boring as piss. Flying in a straight line for 3 hours is right up there with swollowing barbed wire in terms of sheer entertainment value.

The last MSFS i had was the 98 edition. If nothing has changed majorly i must agree with mustang in that "its boreing as piss"

I tried MSFS and found that real time wasn't my thing. I HATE flying the Atlantic or Pacific when I'm a passenger. Can't get excited about "being" in the cockpit either. I suppose it's good for learning how to crash into buildings though ...
