interesting rumour from total film

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

a couple of things. if he wanted to mesh the films together, he should have done it the way every star wars fan wanted: set the prequel trilogy in the Star Wars Universe. If he wanted to make the Technology, or the Fighters or the Characters, or the Planets fit into each trilogy, he should have used the pre-established ones fromt the OT, not created brand new ones for the PT then try to make them mesh by re-creating classic scenes with Naboo fighters in, or including the new species he created in cantina scenes etc. All these are stupid and lame. How much more excited would you be if the Naboo Defence Force had Z-95 Headhunters, and Y-Wings, if some of the Clone Troopers had Stormtrooper armour, if the technology was the same as in the OT so we dont have to wonder why everyone just took a leap back in time, if the PT didnt actually destroy books upon books of Expanded universe information that renders the whole fan community as "liers", even though Lucasfilm liscenced the books in the first place.

There were two ways George could have done the new trilogy. he coulda looked at the OT, saw what the fans liked and what they didnt and gone with that. He should have treated the current fans before treating the kids. I KNOW the star wars series is aimed at kids, but the real story is aimed at the adults because, lets face it, i dont think the kids have picked up on the political schemings of Palpatine and how the whole invasion of Naboo was orchistrated solely so that Palpatine could be elected as Supreme Chancelor of the Senate and that the Clone Wars were started by Palpatine to get him given Emergency Powers to run the galaxy by himself and to wipe out any other power that could stand against him. Cause i think they were just thinking "isnt jar-jar silly". This is wrong. Star Wars doesnt belong to the kids, it belongs to the OT fans who know whats going on.

George can stick in all the SFX he wants to but its the story that everyone loves and its the story that everyone else feels let down by. Now i KNOW Ewan McGreggor can act. Ive seen some kickass stuff with him in it and he can be much more that what Lucas is writing for him because, unfortunately, Lucas also blows as a writer. I think he should sit there, tell some guy what the story is going to involve. Make sure all the specifics are down and then get some guy from continuity to make sure that it doesnt contradict anything already written and THEN get someone else to film it. Haden can 'kinda' act, he just needs to be taught a bit more and i definately think that a different director could have demanded a better performance from him than Lucas. As much as i love the guy for what he's given me, i gotta hate him because he's really the only one to blame. The guy is a control freak that just wants to have his hand in all the important pies and he should just step away and have a big, all powereful, commanding roll like in Empire and Jedi.

yay go Arch! that about sums it up, yoth.

unf GL isn't going to do that, he still likes getting his hands dirty down on set and playing at being director. And he can turn out any old crap and as long as it's got Star Wars in the title, hundreds of millions will pay to see it, buy the DvD/VHs, get the action figures, go the exhibitions yadayadayada.

i thought Ep1 stank, it was really very boring, but I still went to see it, got the kids the DvD and fact files, and paid good money to drive down to London to see the exhib. at the Barbican. That was a rip-off too

Are Richard Marquand and Irvin Kirshner still on Lucas' staff, btw?

i think EP2 was just filling in too many gaps, like how they went from droid armies to clone armies, and how Amidala and Anakin ended up screwing to make Luke and Leia (notice the pattern). I want to see EP3 just to see how Anakin turns to the dark side, and why he loses all his hair !

you havent heard about the volcano then?

Post Mon Jan 05, 2004 8:16 pm

I heard about the volcano, from some Star Wars fact book IRC. After a fight and left to die by Obi-Wan.

But there is one book mention that I want cleared up in Ep3 that I will be p'offed if it isn't addressed. In one of the SW books, could have been Empire Strikes Back or one of the Heir to the Empire books, Yoda or whoever explains why that underground cave near his hut on Dagobah is a bastion of the dark side. Apparently Yoda killed a dark knight there ... it wasn't mentioned who, but it had better be Count Dooku because that's the only way it works.

If they don't show that, I'll be p'offed to no end.

ahh. i remember that, yeah, i think it was in "heir to the empire". Although the chance that Lucas would give a flying **** about the Expanded universe fans is minimal. Personally i want in Ep 3:
Thrawn to make an appearance.
A younger Tarkin.
Bevel Lemisk to be working on the Death Star,
Padme to NOT die....at all.
Z-95 or Currently established fighters to make an appearance.
Mon Mothma & Garm Bel Iblis.
Victory Star Destroyers

it's really gutting that Grand Admiral Thrawn is totally cut out of the films yet he dominates the SW Universe. C'mon who would you rather see in Ep3, Thrawn or Jar-Jar (me'sa gonna give the Galaxy over to the Dark Side) Binks? I have a horrible feeling Ep3 is gonna be cr*p except maybe for the showdown between Obi-Wan and Anakin. Oh yeh and of course the conquest of the galaxy by the Emperor (i think Palpatine's great, I'm always on the Imperial side, i hate those stinkin' Rebel scum)

Arch, you know Padmé's gotta die, for it is written.

well eventually, but in continuity, leia has to remember her mother. Which means she cant die in episode 3.
