WWII games

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I liked BF a lot since a) the enemies aren't always in the same place as you replay the game, and b) you can play for either side, which is not very common in FPS.
Desert combat is a cool mod, though it's somewhat strange to be sitting at MG42 defemding the Omaha beach in an Iraq-USA conflict

I had an idea... (is anyone here a BF1942 modder, or know one well)... make a total conversion mod that would simulate an Alliance-Coalition battle (just a thought)... however... I cant figure out the modding tools (but at least EA gives them to you, unlike microsoft... notice it isnt catitalized)... otherwise I would have a really good mod...

Some games just don't translate well to PC, even though you'd think they were ideal for it. I'm thinking of Diplomacy, which I luuurrrvv. ok its not a WW2 game, WW1 if anything, and I struggled for years to find enough people to play it, and always thought it would be superb on PC. it wasn't, it was p*nts

Reading out loud from the back of the box:

"JUNTA is the game of power, intrigue, money and revolution in your very own banana republic. In this multi-player game. the players, as the ruling families of la Republica, connive, cajole, threaten and ally their way to the fattest Swiss bank account."

Basically, you and your friends play as the Admiral, one of the Generals, the Air Force Commander, Minister of Internal Security or el Presidente, scheming to get your hands on the most cash(read; foreign aid). Where RISK players frown at "Bathroom Alliances", JUNTA encourages them If you feel el Presidente didn't give you enough financial backing, start a Revolution! The best fun is had when everybody show up to the game wearing shades, sporting cigars and drinks with funny names. Role-play is the key to this game. Making grand speaches and having silly names you can't pronounce.

Oh, Hearts of Iron! Gawd-danged superb game, too bad most people give up after 20~ hours of trying to figure how to play it. I guess if you're comfortable with Europa Universalis first, it will be a bit easier to master.
