Futurama

This is the fourth in my series of obligatory threads. I was wondering if anyone around here enjoys watching Futurama. I think that the show is great! The satire is very effective, as is the voice acting. Why did it only go for three seasons? It was due to its unpopularity was it not? I find that hard to believe, as I have seen no indication that it was unpopular here in Australia. Too bad, it had so much potential. Anyone remember the episode with Gary Gygax and his Mace +2? Classic. Mmm, I really have to go out and buy those three Futurama DVDs now that I have a player...

By the way, should I create a Simpons thread as the next in my series, or has it been done about a hundred times?

I beleive that Fox deceided that Futurama was not sucessful enough, so they cancelled it. One of the Funniest things on T.V, and they go and cancel it.
Ah well, I can live with it being short and sweet, rather than continuing until it is no longer amusing, and long past the time when it should die, like the Simpsons. But hey, thats just my opinion...

No, you are damn right. Personally, I think that The Simpsons should end their run now, before dying with a whimper at the end. Seinfeld did it, so why not end on a high? Well, that's comparatively speaking, the latest episodes have been pretty bad...

Back on topic, I also thought that the character detail and animation of Futurama was better than The Simpsons. Wouldn't you agree?

Futurama is a GREAT show, i have all the dvds and love em.... but there is one funnier, its called Family Guy, it only ran for three seasons aswell, but it still is at number one on my list of funniest shows i have ever watched....... so check Family Guy out too...... I bet youll bust out laughing

PS: I have seen the mace+2 one it was kinda funny, I really liked the one where they get like Tax Refunds 300 dollars each though, its a shame, family guy was really funny.... and it got canceled by fox, same with futurama, and now fox i think got rid of the simpsons aswell.........stupid fox

Comont - A lot of people have told me that "Family Guy" is good, but it's not really my thing. What do you mean when you say Fox "got rid of The Simpsons"? Have I missed something??? Or do you have inside connections?

Well ok, where i live, Fox doesnt show the simpsons anymore, they switched the simpsons to channel 13

About Family Guy...it may be comng back next year! It is soooooo successful on Cartoon Network, they have actuall toalked about makeing a movie (DVD) and then returing it to TV.

It is way better than the Simpsons and the only thing that comes close to it is Futurama.

what are you talking about, they got up to series five.

anyways, it rocks. especially on DVD. all that cel shaded magic looks even more
cooler on a plasma TV.

AS is showing new futurama epis right now, whoops, 35 min ago. I just saw one where they reveal where all the old people go and the proff gets cloned. Ever seen that one? Huh? HUH?!

I can remember it vaguely, WB. Actually, I just went out and purchased the first season on DVD! It's pretty good, but I'll have to try the audio commentary next. Should be quite enlightening .

Wait WB, do you mean the one in which the clone turns our to be a kid? And then in another episode the clone and his friend start up their own rival delivery business? IS that the one you mean?

Yes, I think. Clones name is Qbert, orange hair, fat kid, squished nose, points out all the improbabilities in the show, etc. Never saw the one with him and his friend tho.
