Belgian man charged with speeding at 1,154mph
A Belgian man was charged with speeding at 1,154mph in his Citroen car.
Diego Billardello said: "Because I drive only a Citroen Picasso and not a rocket, I looked at the £100 fine and had a good laugh."
Billardello, from Heusden-Zolder, told the judge the maximum speed of his car was only 110mph, reports Het Laatste Nieuws.
But the judge said he still had to pay the fine after looking at a picture which showed Billardello was driving at 40mph in a 30mph area.
A police spokesman said an officer had filled in the papers incorrectly: "He mistakenly put the hour of the offence in the place where he should have filled in the velocity of the car," he said.
It is better to aim for the stars and hit the tops of the trees than to aim for nothing and hit it dead on.
