popping ur nuckles

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

popping ur nuckles

this has been pondering me a long time
see many people have different beliefs....but what one is true?

person 1: says it gives you arthrieghtis

person 2: says it doesnt do anything- dont know why they would think that, a loud pop has to mean something

person 3: says it releives pressure

person 4: has a bad habit of doing this but doesnt know what it does (i.e. me)

Muwahahahaha!!!
I lost it!!!.....or better yet; did I ever have it?

apparently the popping sound is air/gas bubbles trapped in your bones

It is better to aim for the stars and hit the tops of the trees than to aim for nothing and hit it dead on.

I have never been able to pop my knuckles. One day I tried and tried and dislocated a finger.

The popping is from bubbles of nitrogen gas that form in your joints, it doesn't hurt you, and it won't give you arthritis. The worst it can do is annoy the people around you.

Any time things go snap in the human body that's usually a red flag. And what about excessive thunb sucking? I've been told it will mess up your teeth. Not that it would affect me now, of coarse. --- VH16

All my fingers, knuckles and my wrists pop because of the exercise regiment I do, and my right ankle. If I don't crack them my hands feel stiff and are harder to move (by a fraction of an amount, but noticeable).

Although it becomes a habit, I have to force myself not to do it while watching movies at the Cinema.

I do it all the time. It's become a habit of mine, hard to stop. I don't think it gives arthrites. But I also think that if I don't have that air in my joints, it hurts sometimes.

I dont think it hurts you at all from doing it. Its always fun to start doing it in the middle of a test and see how many people follow cue and start cracking also.

Although these threads are kinda amusing for the sheer spam of useless threads - may i suggest you pick up a book and look it up instead of making threads about it? It would
a) Be quicker
b) Be more informative
c) Be more to truth

When popping knuckles, the cartildige that protects the bones in the socket from rubbing together is being 'moved' and crushed badly as well. Also - ligaments holding the muscle to the bone are being strained as well, this is NOT good for your joints at all. Add to this that cartalidge can actually undergo a tougheneing up do to trauma and you have the fact that your joints will become less manouverable. Your cartilidge will wear down, or toughen up depending upon the abuse. Damage it enough and you will bugger up your finger manouverability enough not to be able to type ro play games!

Trust me, i got attacked, and my thumb underwent a severe blow (they kicked my front door into my hand). The result - one thumb (right hand) enjoys approx 30% less manvouerablility that the other one. Not much you may say, but very noticeable. Its annoying that it cannot stretch for things. Why? Cause the cartilidge has toughned up and may NEVER go back to normal. So its permanently buggered. What happened to my thumb was a bad cause of rotten luck, what your doing to yourself is wanton destruction.

they only click when I reset compressed joints after a game of rugger
It's really freaky, the joint won't move, so I tug on it and the joint clicks and it moves again just like new!
I'd love to have an Agent Smith style clicky neck though!
