I've known about this for ages and often used to pop in there, but no-ones ever there now, except Tach on the increasingly rare occasion. So now I don't bother.

pardon my english, but theres too many ****ers in there, plus the mini hitler mods who sit in there and the outrageously crap Juni bot in there. its like someone though "whats the crappest thing we can do with a chat room" then went and did it

Personally I like forums better then chats, because you can give your posts a second thought before really posting them. Prevents you from saying realy stupid stuff.

ya, I'd tend to agree. I prefer the fourms to the chat. I have ff, EB, Eraser, and Kimk on my MSN list, but I hardly talk to them. Not because I don't like them, just because this is so much better.

I was thinking something more like a Java-based chat applet or something. I've heard (from reliable sources) that IRC is a virus haven (just like Kazaa).

nop IRC is the best and the first chat protocol, u better not accept files from anyone you do not know (same as Email).

you better use a firewall if the server you are using do not mask your IP.

Irc is realy cool and safe place for chatting, but if you start trading files making channels spamming or nuke others using virus/flood scripts then thats your problem, making certain ppl angry in Irc might be very expencive.

I have not been realy in Irc/chat for 2 years, do not know what could have changed I just join rarely to check on friends or technical help like #nohack #windows #linux #unix #C #Cpp you can get the best help about this in efnet and ircnet other than that if you can find something in google you better search the related irc channels they have good resourses and gr8 knowlege that a webpages can not offer.
