what? bury it in Britain for gods sake. Too long have nations saught to get rid of their crap in someone elses country or throw it in the sea or somewhere no one else will find it. I think its time we faced up to the fact that if it was US who created it then it should be US that got rid of it on OUR land. If were not wanting to do that, then maybe we should pack the whole program in. Polluting other peoples lands is just a bad idea from the get go.

Because women come from Venus? send them our radioactive dump?

Post Thu Dec 18, 2003 4:09 pm

@Nickless

If what sS said is true, then the problem might not be as huge as everyone thinks.
Even if what I said wasn't true, I think people overreact to the problem. Some often make their minds up based on mischaracterizations and fears as opposed to facts.

Well, if you can get it to Venus, why not shoot it at the sun instead? You're almost halfway by then
And at the right time of the year the sun is probably even closer to earth then Venus.

Edit: Damn spelling.

@Arcon,

We'll just go bury it in your backyard then. Besure to have your webcam focused on them.

a few thoughts:

dumping nuclear waste in the ocean is possibly the worst idea i've ever heard. i can't believe anyone would even consider that.

if you ask me, burying it in the sarah would ultimatly lead to conflicts between the UK and what ever country the waste is actually buried in. "why don't you take care of your own freakin waste, on your land!"

launching radioactive waste onto the moon could royally screw up any future plans of doing anything on the moon in the future. then again, any settlements or outposts on the moon would have to have tons of radiation shielding anyway since the moon has no atmosphere, maybe it would'nt matter. but if you're launching it into space anyway, you may as well get rid of it once and for all by either sending it out into deep space, or into the sun. either way though, its going to cost a heck of a lot of money.

crap. forgot to talk about that laser thing.
hopefully that technology (and others) continues to be developed. a good reclamation program would solve many problems.

Antarctica. nothing there but penguins and there's ;oads of them.

got it.

Chernobyl, well it's already radioactive and ruined, what harm's it going to do to have a bit more?

anywhere else in Russia really; no-one would notice.

Godzilla's Island.

Sahara or any of those cr*p African countries, well they're all going to die of civil war and famine so what's a bit of radiation going to do?

one of those islands above Canadia that no-one remembers the names of. if u don't even know what a place is called how u can object to anyone else doing what they want with it?

anywhere aliens are likely to land, unless of course they use it as weird fuel.

(not Holland cos that's got to be eaten by the Lexx.

same goes for the Amazonian rainforest.)

any country that owes us a favour. suggestions pls.

Yeah, but if we put nuclear waste there, the penguins would mutate into the kind that wear trousers and eat cheese!!

stop using nuclear fuel and convert back to coal and gas, screw the greenhouse effect! Won't hurt me, let the next generation worry about it. --- VH16

@Anyone

OK. I give up. Clearly FR FI' post is asking a question based upon Taw's post. How is it that FR FI's post comes before Taw's? And at least to the minute they are timed to be simultaneous. You two exchanging posts in IM or some such and clicking your reply buttons together or something

@Taw, echoing FR FI....Lexx? Which game is that?

Why not just drop them down into the deepest decommissioned mine shafts in Wales or somewhere like that?

>>>>Edit>>>>>>
*mumbling to self*
I swear I saw ff's post to Taw about the Lexx displayed BEFORE Taw's comment about the Lexx. Oh well. Never mind.

There is also a new sonic technology for breaking down toxic waste. Very neat and cheap to do. Wish I could remember the site. Anyway, some sort of reclamation program is somthing I hope to see soon as nuclear power gets more popular.

Personaly I see nothing wrong with the Sahara. I bet they've been doing it for years and nobody noticed (or cared) but the ocean is a big bad no-no. Then we'd have godzillas popping up everywhere!

@Taw - once again, Lexx?

Launching into space... elegant, but the stuff might be usefull later, in the future. If it's in space it's gone for good. Plus, the cost of such an operation would be huge. Oh! And remember what happened to old New York's trash in futurama?

I may be displaying my ignorance on this subject, but it seems logical that anything that is radioactive could be used as an energy source. Is there any research going on to accomplish this? Anyone know?
