Help required with LAN
My dad's PC runs Windows 2000 (no updates), and the laptop runs Windows 98SE (fully updated). My dad uses Zone Alarm Pro for his firewall, and has allowed access to his PC from the laptop so it can access the Internet.
He previously used WinRoute Pro as the Router, which is very technical and difficult to use, so he switched to Sygate Home Network, which is a lot simpler to use.
We've set up the IP addresses so that the laptop connects to my dad's PC using a gateway, and the DNS configurations are identical on each, and WINS is disabled. The computers can see each other in Network Neighbourhood or whatever its called, and can access each others documents. So the network is working! We've set the laptop's internet connection to connect through a LAN, and auto-detect the proxy server, but no luck!
We're really stuck because the settings are right, just the damn thing won't connect! We've tried everything we can think of, but still no bloody luck. We were up till 12 last night trying to sort it out, and quite frankly we're starting to get kinda pissed off at it!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Dale
