Just thought I''d share

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Just thought I''d share

I just saw Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Arc.

That's a great movie! It's got everything you want: Adventure, badguys, a damsell in destress (she's hot btw) and mystery.
But what do you expect. George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford. Even the fat, bearded guy who helped James Bond out a few times. And with a soundtrack from the same who did the Star Wars soundtrack who wouldn't want to see it
I saw it like tn years ago, but I didn't remember just how good it was/is.

oh well, just thought I'd share

Edit: Damn spelling.

it was a good film but the best one was the third one 'The Last Crusade' with Sean Connery as Indy's dad, this is one of his best roles but his two greatest roles imo are in The Rock and as James Bond

What's the point in living if you can't feel alive?

"Even the fat, bearded guy who helped James Bond out a few times".

Are you referring to John Rhys-Davies?!?! You should know him by now! He did the voice of Tobias, was in Sliders, starred in Wing Commander 3 and 4, Dune 2000, and lots of other stuff. INCLUDING Peter Jackson's LOTR movies! Sheesh, some people just don't pay attention...

The above post is true, and by true I mean "false". It's comprised of lies, but they are entertaining lies and in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is "no".

Raiders of the Lost Ark (with a "k" not a "c" was when Spielberg knew how to please a crowd instead of preach to them.

Lucas is always a better idea man than a director, examples SW I & II. Yes, he directed IV and that was great, only because he was creating the form. If that movie had come after others had done it, it would have been horrible because he would have been influenced by them.

And Harrison Ford at that time wasn't going through a mid-life crisis. What the hell is a man at that age doing with a stud earring in his earlobe?! Hopefully now he has ridden himself of it.

You scared me, I thought you had just seen it for the first time! My faveorite part is that nifty ww1 tank!

My favorite Indana Jones movie is that one with the huge dimond thing on a pole. Lots of stuff in caves, falling stalagtites etc. Saw it eons ago.

This topic brings this up... where did your name come from Indy?

Post Sat Dec 13, 2003 6:11 am

The third one is my favort. "X marks the Spot"

I saw The Rock a few weeks ago. The last 30 minutes orso. Sean Connery is usually good, Nicolas Cage however, kinda stunk in that one.
And I thought Raiders was more entertaining than Last Crusade, but that's an opinion

How could I have missed that one, I thought his voice sounded strangely farmiliar, but I could only link him to James Bond. Oh yeah, sliders. Seen that a couple of times, quite entretaining.

@sS;

You mean The Raiders of the Lost Ark? (<-- See sS? )
yeah, great movie, I just seen it yesterday
The WWI tank part I missed, must have been in the first couple of minutes I missed. Although...A WWI tank in the middle of South Amarica jungle...Hmm

@RILMS:

Yeah, saw that one a few weeks back. Also very good.

It shows that you haven't seen it in a while. The only diamond in the three movies was in the Chinese restaurant Obi Wan in Temple of Doom. It was a gold head idol on an alter in Raiders of the Lost Ark, which was in a collapsing cave system where that huge boulder came down. I think before starting to call any of the three your favourite, you should rewatch them.

@RILMS, WLB, Gowserpaul my favourite of the three films use to be Last Crusade when I was young. Now that I am older my favourite is Raiders of the Lost Ark because it is infinitely a better crafted film than Crusade. Crusade is merely the funnest of them.

Ahhh John Rhys-Davies, truly britains most under-rated actor. Over here he's been on our TV for decades, thankfully the rest of the world is finally discovering him.

As for the indiana jones trilogy...what can i say...they're 3 of my favourite movies of all time (well, definitely up there in the top 50, and thats saying something). I'm hoping for the new trilogy box set this christmas...

The diamond on a stick thing. Well of course you're talking about the staff which when held in the right place, at the right time will point to the location of the Ark of the Covenant on the map in the underground map room. Raiders of the Lost Ark of course. Its been a while since of seen it, but I think it was a ruby that was in the middle of the staff-head. I'm sure Uncle Taw will tell us when he stumbles onto this thread

I must however defend the second film - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Yes ok the kid and the girl are annoying. Yes I know it dragged on a bit and the script was mediocre. But! The chase scene through the mine was one of the best of its genre - truly original at the time - and still exciting to watch today. Similarly, the famous rope bridge scene was spectacular to watch on the big screen as a kid. The suspense was fantastic and many many film makers since I have tried to recreate it, and failed. Yes, overall, its a bit naff and doesn't compare to the other two - but give the film its dues, it was groundbreaking and contained some amazing stunts that I will never forget.

And the other two - I can't seperate them - they're completely different movies. One is a comedy/thriller and the other is pure adventure. But I think I would choose Raiders for the pure thrill, originality, cinematography and script...and of course because Karen Allen looks gorgeous when the monkey is on her shoulder

Look out for Indy 4 - due out in 2005 - cowritten by Mr Lucas, directed by Mr Spielberg, Harrison Ford confirmed in the title role.

Like I said, she's hot

#4 coming? nice. With Harrison Ford? Isn't he a bit old?
On the other hand, I can't realy think of anyone who could replace him.

I never particularly thought Karen Allen was that beautiful, IMO. Best looking of the three films was Kate Capshaw, of course she also had the screechiest voice.

As for the possibility of there being another Indiana Jones flik, I doubt it. They keep talking about it, but Harrison is just too old and out of shape. The only way I could see it is if they made it a psychological thriller as opposed to a pure action-adventure. I seriously doubt they'll give the role to someone else.

But if they give the role to Ben Affleck, who also replaced Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan, I'm boycotting any film from those two film producers directors forever. That means all of LucasFilms and all Dreamworks pictures as well!

Well Spielberg has confimed that it's going to happen. I don't know how well it'll turn out but barring an massive dummy spit, it's going to get filmed. They have a tentative release date of July 5th 2005 and supposedly Sean Connery will make an appearence again.
