video gaming awards are a load of bull**** to be honest. the genre is slowly coming into the mainstream so everyone with even a partial interest in the gaming industry likes to host their own gaming awards and your more than likely never going to see them again the next year. Basically, an awful ploy to get the yoof watching this tv channel or website or whatever. We had this god awful show this year called "game stars" or something. a big old pile of crap that show was. Seriously, i was embarrased just watching it. Basically every catagory was just a marketing strategy for Playstation 2 or soemthing. I kid you not i was expecting some of the catagories to be
"best black console that can sit both flat and in a tower"
"best console with built in dvd player that you DONT have to buy a £15 upgrade to use"
"best console for playing Gran Tourismo 3 on"
it was appauling. i think a console game won every catagory. I think it even won in "best online game". Like all awards things, halo2 won most anticipated game, although this strikes me as being the most idiotic idea for an award ever. The fact that a game could win that award without any work being shown on the game itself, its purely a "who can put the most moeny into advertising this game" award. Its all about hype. You dont have an academy award for "most anticipated film of next year" do you? NO. Likewise there should be a period where gamers can vote for every game thats been released in the past year. those 5 with the highest votes are the ones that go on to get nominated for another round of voting and then at the end, the winner selected. Not "readers of this newspaper voted this game the best". Pah!
