water bed
computer with internet
tv with cable
surround sound
I'm sorry but this has to be said.....for ***** sake! HOW RICH ARE YOU PEOPLE??! Where the hell do you live? Money-land? Rich-ville, USA? Do Computers and TVs and Surround Sound systems grow on trees where you live or what??
I'm sorry to rant but all I've seen so far in this thread is list after list of really expensive things....either you're all stinking rich (in which case, lend us a fiver) or you're all living in cloud cuckoo land.
I would say I'm on a fairly decent wage, definitely above average, and if I had kids requesting that little bundle I'd tell them to go **** themselves...even at "half decent" prices you're looking at -
water bed = £300
computer = £600
tv = £250
surround sound = £200
total = £1350
and thats presuming that you're wanting bog standard stuff and nothing too flashy. Maybe its just me, but I'm happy if I'm given something worth a fiver...making "demands" for over a grand is spoilt, selfish and goddamn unreasonable.
EDIT: by the way wolfy, I'm not just ranting at you - I sense a little sarcasm in your post - but I'm ranting about everybody who seems to want MP3 players, computers, consoles, PDAs, cell phones etc etc....get a job and buy it yourselves for ***** sake.

Well I did a search for a Rounter and although I did not come across the elusive device itself, I did come across some of it's "attachments". It appears that a Rounter may actually be a tool of some sort, possibly a "power" tool.
Rounter Attachments
Stay tuned for further updates on the hunt for the Rounter

i think wolfy means trouter, a fish peripheral that lets you, if you dont like surfing, sit around for hours and wait for something to bite.
Actually, when he says rou(n)ter, i think he means something to plug his hi-fi into his pc so he can play music from the stereo on his pc. As in, i suppose, an optical in lead or something.
that or he could want a router for making patterns in wood.
@grom: i'm with you on this, i think maybe theres some kids out there with silver spoons in their gobs, requesting surround sound, an new pc...****, my OWN pc was a colaboration where i paid 3/4 of it and my dad paid the rest, i dont think i'd ever get gifts of that value...ever. Christmas was always about the presents when i was a kid, and i know everyone had friends who got bikes, vcr/dvd players, ps2s/xboxes/gamecubes and the like. Me? i got a few books, a few videos and was content. I wouldnt even get a fraction of one of the products Wolfies listed, and to be honest, i dont think he's joking. My gran wouldnt spend more than 20 quid on all three of us (me and my siblings) and that was cool, let alone the multiple hundreds some people seem to be getting. It makes me sad, because the transition from richie rich to normal guy is gonna blow.

@arcon I know exactly what you mean. If I got a present worth more than £20, I would be absolutely made up....my grandparents used to give me and my sister a tenner each and we'd be over the moon with it. Getting a present worth hundreds (never mind over a thousand!) is just unthinkable. When I was 13, I got a job and worked my arse off to pay the majority on my first "big" computer - an Acorn Archimedes - and god did I appreciate it when it finally arrived.
Nowadays I'm on a decent wage, as is my gf, and I still can't afford an outright payment on a new computer....I built a new one six months ago, and I'll still be paying off the parts in 2 years. As for a surround sound system, I've been putting money aside for almost a year now and I'm hoping to pick one up in the January sales - but if my kids asked me for any of these things, I'd simply have to say no way. These sorts of things as christmas presents are surely unthinkable??! Whats it going to be next year? A bang and olufsen stereo? A plasma screen TV? A car? A house? Where does it stop?
Even if my parents were really well off, I'd feel guilty asking for these sorts of things...in fact, I couldn't ask for these things, I haven't got it in me. Maybe its just me.

@Mustang
If you're not joking..... those look like router "bits" or "knives" depending on the wood working craft using them. I guess you could call them rounter bits because the point of most of those knives is to cut rounding or curved edges (convex or concave) of some kind, simple arcs like bull nose finishes to french curves for finished wood edges. Some are used to make bead lines, etc. etc.

well, as for me, I usually ask for things that I would not normally buy for myself.
Usually clothed, shoes, maybe a game of some sort. Last year I asked my folks for a 27 TV and that was it. I only asked for that because I live in the same area as them and I work part time at Best Buy so I gave them my discount. I have never overstepped the bounds I set up after I figured out what money was and had a fair estimation of how much the parents had. Ask for a few things but nothing like what these guys are after... settle down people!
