Christmas

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

unfortunately I do have a singing fish "Billy Bass"

I don't have a cigarette throwing out of its arse donkey

I do have a peeing monk, a singing kung-fu hamster, a Mysteron talking keyring (I quite like that actually) a black pvc and silver dice set for my car, a vibrating reindeer, a pooing reindeer, a farting Santa, a farting elf, a farting bear, a farting monkey, a remote control farting machine (oh that's me isn't it!) and an accumulation of other such seasonal "humour" which I do not and never have found humourous. And enough cheap car-care kits to re-stock Halfords.

lol. ya know, I always wondered who buys that stuff...and now I know

I'm quite impressed with you seasonal farter collection though...have you ever thought about taking them onto the antiques roadshow for a laugh?!

got a reindeer that craps little round chocolate pellets?

Post Mon Dec 01, 2003 8:38 pm

@Arc: I think that you are right, partially. There are some who need this. I don't, but that doesn't mean I'm emotionally wrong or something as you so elegantly put it.
It also doesn't mean I take anything for granted. I've been through to much crap to take anything for granted.

I'll drop the subject, for now.

@Taw,

You do all of that every year and, yet, you don't get anything positive in return?
You didn't strike me as a masochist so I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that you like doing it anyway. The bad taste humor gifts, year-on-year, sounds like you've set yourself up with a tradition that cannot be broken. Have you thought of re-gifting? That usually kind of gets a message across.

For the Thread:

I have a small family. They ask me what I want and I tell them and vice versa. That usually amounts to the main gift we each get for each other. Anyting else constitutes a surprise from Santa. We have a rule, no gag gifts... this is because, once upon a time, one of us got an offensive (not offensive to me) present which the gift giver had no idea was the case. It was a 9 inch tall Santa that, when you turned it on, did a little hurly gurly dance at the end of which, he dropped his drawers in all his anatomical correctness with a little red light blinking on you know what.

Unfortunately, the gift giver was my Mom and it was for me and, well, I cracked up but she never lived it down. The box labelling just called him Surprise Dancing Kris Kringle or something like that. Anybody ever heard of this thing? My Mom took the present back and kept where she bought the thing a secret. She never talked about it after that ... she was mortified.

Anyway, after that, no gag gifts.

howcome she never lived it down?
if u liked it
shouldnt she be happy?

i would have laughed so hard, well i dont know

@Wolfie.

I guess you had to be there Wolfie. My Mom was not the sort that tolerated that sort of thing. She THOUGHT that all she got me was a dancing Santa as a stocking stuffer. Little did she know...... I was, ummm, 14 or 15 at the time.
We teased her about that ever since.

@Taw

Re-gifting.

An age-old American Christmas tradition of keeping certain kinds of Christmas gifts in circulation from year to year. The archetypically re-gifted item being the fruit cake. There are countless jokes about its heft, density, specific gravity, hardness, incorruptibility and indesctructibility (shelf life of infinity). I.e., You're "Great Aunt Fanny's" fruit cake you got in 1990 is re-gifted in 1991 to your not so favorite cousin who re-gifts it in 1992 to his mother-in-law, etc., etc.

The trick, of course is to figure out what it is without damaging the packaging and simply keeping it for the next season, wrap it up with new holiday paper and pass it on to someone else. Strategically, it should be outside the family but, in your case, you may want to give it to the "wiseguy" who keeps giving them to you in the first place.

(SPAM)

Now how come eeeveryone's got a nifty nickname 'cept me? Wolf_demon's got his "wolfy", Arcon's got his "Archie", Tawakalna's got his "Taw" (what could be better than 'taw?). Where's my nick, huh? Is it that whole thing about being missing for a few months?

And while we're at it, what's with these "i do this with someone, do you" sigs. Am I the only one left with an original sig?
