Christmas

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Christmas

excuse me for ranting but:

When will people learn? its about spending time with family and friends, not about how much crap you get or how much food you can eat, although its fun, i agree, i think christmas has gotten to comercialised, and people have lost sight of the true meaning.

the true meaning being a Roman festival for the rebirth of the Sun, when people stuffed their faces with food and drink, had wild parties in the streets, gave each other gifts, and masters waited upon their slaves for the day? Io Saturnalia!

i meant the modern meaning, but who cares

i doubt ppl will ever learn about the true meaning of christmas, it's just a good excuse for big companies to cash in, but getting presents is a one of the best parts, that and eating christmas dinner

I'd very much like to know what u mean by the "true" meaning of Christmas, ff. Seriously, I've often wondered just what it is people are trying to say when they talk about the true meaning of Christmas. I can guess, but I'd rather be told

Post Sun Nov 30, 2003 12:12 am

"Christmas is about the birth of Santa", that being from the Simpsons.

I'd agree, Christmas has become commercialized, so much so that any meaning it previously had has been lost to irreconciliable decadence. It's starting to make me sick inside.

@ff

Not only christians "celebrate" Christmas, that is how commercial it has become. I usually see the commercialized Christmas as the warm up to the commercialized New Year bash.

But being a catholic (lower case on purpose) christian, I have my own idea on what Christmas should mean. Like Taw asked, though, what is the truth of Christmas to you?

The family and friends thing is very much an important piece for me but, like the presents and the meal, I was taught that this is not what Christmas means.

I love it when people say christmas has become to commercialized like it's a new thing. Still the true meaning of xmas, isn't the giving of presents or eating large meals or the birth of christ, it's all about getting nicely liquored up and shagging the new girl in dispatch.

it's all about getting nicely liquored up and shagging the new girl in dispatch.

Shouldn't you find a more private place to shag?

Post Sun Nov 30, 2003 8:23 am

I meant the new girl FROM dispatch, but you have given me a kinky idea.

Post Sun Nov 30, 2003 11:00 am

As a christian, christmas to me is about celebrating jesus's birth, and being with friends and family

Post Sun Nov 30, 2003 11:25 am

what if I'v already shagged the new girl in dispatch ?

Post Sun Nov 30, 2003 11:26 am

The true meaning of Christmas is individually defined - you cannot force it unto others. Much like religions and politics and moralities: to each his own.

@Must; good on ya!
