Wow! You've got yourself set up for a vice honeymoon! Never been to vegas, gota wait a few more years, but San Francisco I've been to and the Grand Canyon I've flown over.

I'd have to look at a map to tell you the distance from vegas, and I'm lazy... but just for you it looks to be 1-2 hundred miles on my globe. If you have the time it's worth it.

San Francisco... wierd streets, COLD. You probably have things planned for there, and the only real attraction I know of is da bridge.

Don't supose you'll spend much time on the Hawaiian islands, but if you get the chance go to Hanauma bay... some of the worlds best snorkeling imho (and parrot fish! yay!) Benihana's (sp?) is a great resturant there, but perhaps they are in the UK as well?

@bob cheers for the info! every little bit helps. We decided to check out san fransisco for a couple of reasons - we both love jazz and I heard they've got some decent clubs there, we both want to see Alcatraz (I know its weird for a honeymoon, but we won't get a chance like this again in the foreseeable future!) and we both love movies so we just want to see were some of the classics (eg Bullitt) did their car chases! We're only staying for a couple of nights so that should be cool. You say its cold? How cold is cold? Surely it can't be colder than england right??!

Well, with it's latitude i didn't figure on needing a coat -_- big mistake. It isn't too cold I supose, but the wind! Esp. on the bay or coast.

Than again, I am from a place where 60 ferinheit (sp?) is considered cold and we get snow maby once every 20 years.

many many yrs since i went to Vegas, grom, it's twice the size it was when i went 17yrs ago. but the Canyon's only about an hour and a half away, so there's no excuse not to go!

This is a very long shot, but if you get murdered while in Las Vegas, at least you know that the crime will be solved :p. The same goes with uh, New York and LA.

Stay in the Ex IF it is a newer construction than the Flamingo. Don't know about you but newer buildings always seem cleaner to me than old ones and I find that to be important in hotel accommodations. I have not stayed at either place. I thought, though that the Flamingo has both old and new wings. Not sure.

Drinks: All drinks inside the gaming areas of the hotel and casinos are on the house ... At a cash bar you tip in cash.... It is an additional edge for the house. I never paid for a drink but you do tend to tip the waitresses with a gambling chip over the long haul. They keep an eye on how you are doing.

Ummm. I never ordered a beer the one time I was there. I never paid for a drink either so I can't tell you price. I was at the MGM Grand for two nights only. And although I don't like gambling, I did do it for one night. The second night I walked the strip. I found my second night more entertaining.

If you don't gamble, you had better like the shows (which often are not for free). Needless to say, there is no Siegfried and Roy now. I do not happen to like either of these options so I did not find that aspect enjoyable. On the other hand if you are interested in observing oddities of life, certainly there is quite a lot to observe (you need to be careful not to be taken for a weirdo, however).

I have friends who love Vegas and dream of going back as often as possible. I have opted out. They gamble, however. I have other ways to waste my money more enjoyably.

If you don't like either there are some outdoorsy nature things you can do during the day but.... this is a desert environment. You and your friends need to make sure that you take along the highest strength sun block you can find. The heat is dry so you will not know what hit you if you are not careful.... yes, even in Winter although it probably is less of a problem.

There are pools at every large hotel. There are golf courses too. Pool sides serve drinks chargeable to your room, credit card or for cash (you tip). Some of the courses have spare sets of clubs to lend you and, not sure, but may let you on the course if you wear sneakers.

For the ladies there are in house beauty spas and for all, massage services either at your room or in the spa.

Vegas is set up so that if you are not spending money to enjoy yourself one way, you are losing money by gambling so that everything else you need is for free (except the room.... unless you are a high roller).

I go to Las Vegas because my parents live there.
I don't want to go into a long post about Vegas but I can say if your 21 or over you cant go wrong, there is something there for everyone.

grom, can i come with you to San Fran? there is a studio over there i wanna speak to, and ive emailed them a month ago with no reply, and there is no way in phoning them ... you can take me, since im nearer to you than anyone else here
