This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

There is no difference between a 9600 128Mb and a 9600 256Mb, it's just more RAM. You won't get any higher speeds or anything, you'll just be able to pack more data into it.

@Leonhart, lol , HL2 is Half Life 2 I think. I never played the original game, but its not a video card.

I've been checking on prices and the ATI 9600 PRO 128MB DDR AGP 8x is just a smidge more expensive than the Gf4 TI4800. I think the others are right in saying the ATI Radeon is a better card. I hear it a lot more lately. It wasn't always the case.

DO NOT GET your initial choice, the GEFORCE FX5600 128MB AGP 8X DDR. That just is a bad card for being a newer design. That is an absolute & definite "no."

I usually ran across when the Radeon 9800 Pro came out was that it needed more than 128Mb of video memory. Double the volume to 256Mb was a common suggestion. Again, however, that was for the 9800 Pro. Can it make a difference? Like say for HL2 if it ever comes out?

Lets put it this way: Imagine you have a texture 128x128 pixels in size, 32-bit pallete, 32bit texture depth. You would need *deep breath* (128x32)+(128x32)+(128x32)x32x8x8 (x,y,z,color,T&L,bump mapping) bits = 24MB for storing and processing that texture in one cycle. Original HL has an average texture size 64x64 and in some cases 96x96, and assuming that HL2 will use 128x128-256x256, yes, the quantity of memory COULD make a difference, but with high speed DDR (4 ns and faster) that difference between 128 and 256MB of mem shouldn't be more than, say 5-15%, depending on the vid card.

I use a Radeon 9000Pro and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I bought a GeForce MXX 440 Sparkle 4x AGP for £64 from PC World.
