x-lancer, glad to see that the game enthuses you but...

1. this should be in the off-topic forum (search for x2 threads you'll soon find them there)

and...

2. please don't bring up the old joystick argument, its old hat, and split 50/50. Some people, including myself, prefer the mouse control....its an argument that you really don't want to stir up again!

on the original subject though, what is it that makes X2 so good? Please ellaborate because no-one else ever does!

Arg, not again. Every now and then some really annoying X people (this kind is a minority, of course )have to come here and poke us with their joysticks. Saying arrogant crap like "What Freelancer should have been" and then you complain when people here flame you back.

Moved to OT... where some civilized X discussion actually occured without being condescending to FL. Mention the joystick again and I'll have to lock you down.

Well, for what it's worth, I'm glad Freelancer and X are different. Freelancer was really great to jump in, get into some great dogfights (especially out in ice fields and the like). And exploration was extremely fun. I also really liked the mouse control on Freelancer, and lastly...

X2 has just gone gold and should be out in the US in two weeks. A playable demo should be available soon.

It's almost going to be release you know...

Anyway, though I'm probably gonna buy me a copy of X2 (have to import the bloody thing because they aren't gonna release it in Holland Grrr), I'll stay true to FL. Especially with the New Universe on the brink of release and Level2 and/or TC Free Worlds to keep me busy in the mean time, I'm gonna spend enough time on it.

I know it's crazy, but it's still Freelancer forever for me

@Arcon: hehe chill, dude! actually, I play FL 1st person, and played lots of Joystick games. (best ever: Tachyon: the Fringe)

No matter what side you're on in the joystick debate, one fact is true :
The OPTION for joystick should have been there in FL. It could have even been a shift-on-the-fly thing,
Mouse<>Joystick with 1 keystroke. sigh.

A new entry in the space genre is a *good* thing, may get M$ to get off their a$$ @ FL2.

Just so long as it's not 'Pay-per-month-MP-only' crap! Boy, does that piss me off!
