F/18 Hornet goes mad - the reason

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

F/18 Hornet goes mad - the reason

I know this will probebly be locked as well but lots of people have been asking the reason for him leaving. This is a quote from the boston freelancer server forums from hornet. After he worte this he decided to totally leave freelancer and get himself banned from all the servers/forums he had been to.

The NPC regenerating shields mod is okay.... if you are in a VHF.

Flying in preferred fighter of choice, however, the game is f_cking impossible. It takes more than 30 minutes to bring down ONE f_cking Bounty Hunter Hammerhead.

I like to fly in the Drake Light Fighter. I normally can handle 235k missions, which I like to do. But the stupid regen mod makes it impossible. Even the class 4 anti shield Sweeper missles were useless! Each missle hit would damage the enemy shields, but on the very next hit (with a Sweeper, less than 2, 3 seconds later) the enemy shields are back up to full! Unless I stay in areas with same level ships as my Drake, there is no point even trying.

My point is this...the stupid mod favors players flying in VHFs, and screws players in Light Fighters. If I can't even kill a friggin bounty hunter, what's the point? I QUIT.

*One last note: I told Earendil that if any of his server side mods FORCES me to buy a VHF, then I would quit the server.

Hmmmm. I wonder if Sir Spectre.... or is it "King" Spectre now {? thanks to 666} would find good fodder in that thread for yeat another play.

I read through the first two pages on the Boston Server. The dispute was interesting but Hornet seems to have got something else going on than just the game. Seems like he had something else very heavily invested in succeeding in a LF against VHFs than just amusement.

It is strange, but I'm not writing any more plays after "Reynet." It will be the best and the last.

As Yogi Berra said it: "It ain't over 'til it's over."

@Arcon

LOL. No no. Yogi Berra is, in the US at least, a very famous baseball sports figure although there is more than just a passing resemblance between Mr. Berra and some bears in general.

Yogi's fame includes his I guess rather "quaint" way of speaking, including the quote that I used which is a precursor to another American professional Ice Hockey saying: "It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings." Same meaning, anyway.

i guess he's smarter than the average Berra..

is it anything to do with yogic transcendentalism, where apparently u learn how to lift pic-er-nic baskets with ur mind alone, and can levitate away from Mr.Ranger sir?

@Taw.

*Chuckles* Well. Yes... in a way. Yogi got his nickname in his childhood because he had a resemblance to an Indian snake charmer that he and his friend saw at the movies as one of those Movietone news items. Don't how much trantric, much less how much yoga can be derived from snake charming but... there you have it.
