Help desk? My computer''s not working...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Help desk? My computer''s not working...

...well actualy it's my mouse/keyboard. Just wanted to scare Taw

I have a Logitech cordless mouseman optical and a cordless keyboard that came with it and uses the same reciever. I am quite pleased with both, but suddenly without explanation they ceased to function.. both of them! (no, its not the bateries)

I checked the reciever conection but it was good. After fiddeling for a while and pushing various re-set/connect buttons I did a good ol fasioned re-start and that didn't fix it either. So, I disconnected the reciever, and re pluged it (while the comp was running) and after about 15 seconds of "thought" from the computer all was well(?)!

My family tells me that this sort of thing has happened to them before, but this is the first for me. Living by an airport I wonder if some signal perhaps causes them to go out of sinc with the reciever or somthin?

Anyhoo, any thoughts would be apreciated.

Try getting the latest drivers from logitech. If that doesn't improve things it's probably a dodgey reciever. Has anyone dropped it lately?

I doubt you would be recieving interference from the airport, my mobile phone sits right next to my reciever and it's never caused me any issues.

dont know about the airport but there are many things transmitting signals on all sorts of frquencies so i wouldnt rule it out totally
the transformer from my zip drive sends a signal that interferes with one of my monitors but only one the others are unaffected so you never know !

hm.. i tend to not trust logitech after i didn't like the humoungous size of the first mouse i bought from them.. its kinda biased i guess.. and i also don't tend to like the sensor mice things... they have too much technicallities for something thats in constant contact with various surfaces.. but i have one that never failed. its an old one tho. you might try buying a roller mouse. they're more reliable.

I've got the exact same input devices. Location of the transmitter is crucial. Mine is sitting approximtely 3 feet from the montior on a fairly level plane with the keyboard and mouse. That's in the instructions of course.

They work like a charm, but now I really want one of them thar wide screen plasma's so I can surf from across the room while sitting on my couch and still see the screen.

Neato Stinger! I'd love a setup like that, but all my wall space is covered by the superstructure of my desk, fish tank, bookshelves, windows etc. so I have but a 13 in. laptop screen

Mine has worked perfectly too (till this occurance) even with the reciever less than a foot from the comp, DSL modem, and speakers and about 6-8 in lower.

@kimk - I am a big logitech/optical mouse/wireless input fan after this combo and my previous mouse (optical as well). Trackballs bother me, if thats what your suggesting
