Mystery Spot on Jupiter Baffles Astronomers
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I'd stopped watching it long before that, as soon as the aliens got involved it lost all credibility for me, and it hadn't had much before. I honestly didn't know there'd been another 2 series made (every days a school day!)
back to the Monolith thats eating Jupiter, yeah the Monolith, everybody knows that what it is, sunspots?...we all really believe it's "sunspots" or "gas storms" don't we! so do u reckon its going to turn Jupe into a star, or just eat it? if it does turn into a star, won't it melt/burn up all the moons close to it INCLUDING Europa where the plant aliens live? and won't we have nights anymore?
big question. are the aliens trying to help us or is it a cunning plan to conquer us? if they're the aliens out of Signs, then maybe they've seen the film and realised Earth is wet, so they're igniting Jupiter to dry us up so their alien invasion fleet won't be defeated. see? I've worked the whole thing out in a rational and logical manner!

jupiter didnt blow up in the film in was turned into a black hole that imploded on its self and black holes suck matter in so when they explode most of its sent inwards
thats my theory on why it didnt melt the moons
either that or i gotta stop listening to the voices
Why don't space shuttles puncture heaven?

@FF - Well, that's what I am guessing is the orangey oval smudge in the upper band in the upper left quadrant of the shots. It seems to be moving from right to left.
@WLB - Thank you. It took me a while staring only at the bottom band to realize that it had not disappeared. I was, up to that point, flummoxed.

To quote from the book
'What would be the first thing you would do to make jupiter into a star?'
'Id make it denser, for one'
Thats what its doing, the monolith, replicating, causes increased gravitational mass, causing jupiter to collapse. The increased pressure allows Hydrogen and helium nuclei in the core to fuse, therefore creating a nuclear fusin reaction that apparently lasts for about 1000 years.
The ingnition of jupiter allowed its moons (especially Europa) to become hapitable, but alot of nocturnal breeding animals on earth became extinct due to the new sun in the sky.
To end this on a joke:
'Before, Io was hell, Now, it's hell warmed up!'
Fighting me is like taking on the entire nomad fleet in a starflier
