Let me rephrase for complete understanding. Though I am American, I am quite savvy with British coloquialisms because I spend much time watching British television as I DETEST American tele.

American shows are bleeding awful!! The writers of tele comedies get their bollocks off writing that dodgy snot, but it only shows what total smegheads they are!!!

Always wanted to ask this question and it seems like you may be receptive to it.
Q: With all the differences in England, when these dialects are used in TV programming dialogues, does the rest of the Country understand what's said? I mean, do Staffordshiremen understand Geordie? etc.? There are certain parts of the US where the accents are so thick, they are unintelligible to most strangers.

Sir Spectre, are you a Red Dwarf fan? (Your use of 'smeghead') I'm not.

@SD The Clanner, yes I am a Red Dwarf fan. But smeghead was an edit as 'wan' + 'k' and a 'er' didn't show up, due to asterisks. Smeghead wasn't my first choice and I know it isn't really a good example of British talk as it is only derivitive of only one show. But I chose to have a visible insult as opposed to a hidden one.

I'm actually surprised by the words that are asterisked on this site. Even the word 'j' + 'erk' is asterisked as proven here: ****. Yet ass and damn are not.
