lol grom, no! although i did meet them on several occasions, as well as Mick Mcmanus and Jackie Pallo, but even then pro-wrestling was becoming a circus and the costumes were making an appearance, remember Kendo Nagasaki and Mighty John Quinn; it was WWF without the glitz and the girls, and a lot cheaper!
anyway u know what my surname is, and ur stuff went in the post today along with steels.
years ago I too like Arch used to HATE wrestling (I know where ur coming from on this Arch but stay with me ok?) because like choirs, boxing, and the RAF it was one of those things my dad used to force me to watch/partake in, and for years I just could not abide to even talk about it let alone suffer watching it. Now I'm a lot older I've changed my opinion, although I loath the WWF nonsense because it IS nonsense, but proper competitive wrestling is fluid, skilled, precise and graceful, and a genuine test of strength, stamina and ability; like all proper sports should be. So yes, in every respect, wrestling is a real sport, and still in olympic wrestling it maintains a high degree of integrity. I used to hate boxing too until recently when i decided to take it up, and even though I'm total rubbish and get the cr*p knocked out of me, it makes me feel great, much better than all that poncey aerobics and gym stuff. I go to a local amateur ring in Hanley a couple of late afternoons in the week as long as I'm not working late, to get my beating. Sometimes i even win, when I'm fighting the 16yr old flyweights.
My dad used to practice half-nelsons and boston crabs on me, much to his amusement and my agony.
..you think you're done with the past, but the past isn't done with you..
