Auditions for my next play, "Zlothello" -- Update

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I preferred Marlowe myself, much more fun than Will, who was sucking up to the aristocracy a lot of the time (Macbeth is a thnly veiled grovel to James 1)

Post Thu Oct 09, 2003 10:30 pm

Seems we've all read McBeth... wonder why. In our old house when we bought it there was a "out out damn spot" poster in a closet. When we sold it years later it was still there. We never got rid of it or looked at it.

I have been having trouble getting on the site for a few days, and you are certainly making progerss Spec! I am impressed

@Warlord Bob, LOL, the stain upon thy hands and thy house will never be cleaned.

@Tawakalna, I have never read any of Marlowe's work. I really should. Note to self, read Phillip Marlowe's plays.

The play is .................................. almost done. It will be this day, I'm sure that I will post it.

Wolfy, you posted that second post just to become a major didn't you?

I'm curious as to why you and Freighter Fighter are having at it with mildly accusatory posts. Is it just in fun? Or is there some dorment negativity toward each other?

yes u should Sir Spec, Kit Marlowe's much more fun than Shakespeare, often rumoured to actually have written Will's better plays as a ghost-writer. In fact I'm not a big Shakespeare fan (apart from the history plays) but that's probably years of having it drummed into me @ school. i prefer the other Jacobean stuff like Duchess of Malfi, and the Revenger's Tragedy, and Bussy d'Ambois, much more rollicking adventures. my wife makes us all go to outdoor Shakespeare twice a year which she loves but me and the boy find it all rather dull (and it always rains)

having said that Shakespeare translates superbly into film (my preferred medium in case u hadn't guessed) Orson Welle's Macbeth is brilliant, as is Olivier's Henry V, beautifully shot by Powell & Pressburger. And of course Kurosawa did imho by far the best adaptation of Shakespeare with Ran (my fav film after Apocalypse Now and Cinema Paradiso) i also rather liked Baz Luhrmann's R&J even tho' i detest Leonardo di Caprio as an actor, he was good in that.

i had to do R&J and Winters Tale for A-level, I changed examining boards cos I hated them so much and got to do Coriolanus (ace) and Merchant of Venice (much better)

Kit Marlowe, that's right, I said Phillip Marlowe, that's a Bogart sleuth.

I will check those others out. Especially Orson Welle's MacBeth, as Orson Welle's Othello is one of my favourite films of all time. Not my absolute favourite, but near there. I heard of Ran, but I didn't know it was based off of Shakespeare.

As for Baz's R&J, I like the film somewhat. But there are a lot of parts to it that annoy me as well. DiCaprio being one of the main reasons. Although I liked the choice of Claire Danes because she is not a "supermodel type."

Woah, guys chill out. This isn't going to become a flame fest.

@Wolfy, I never would have thought your first post was a knock about my play, because you said you couldn't wait to read it. But I'm glad you thought of me to be concerned.

@FF & Wolfy, I don't know what's bugging the two of you, but Fear Factor just put a restraining order on Arcon & Tawakalna for feuding in the Threads of Lore. Don't have this happen to yourselves.

The restraining order is if Arcon or Taw responds to each other AT ALL. Look to the Member Pictures thread by Top-Gun on the last page.

Yeah, I'm sorry to say that, but I think it's kinda sad. two fairly clever guys should know better.

anyway. it's not funny anymore Wolfie and ff. get on topic or get on MSN with each other, but don't bore us with it.

Ok, got that of my chest.

About the q who saw/read a Shakespear...I saw Romeo & Juliet...(the movie )
And Claire Daines was a gorgeous Juliet
That's about all the Shakespear I know.

btw, Spec, you must type realy fast, or very short sentences Good work.
Looking foward to it.

i promised FF i wouldn't tease Archie anymore. Sort of cuts out 50% of all my fun but if it keeps the peace then so be it. Shame really.
