This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

damn router. argh!!

Ok, i got myself a Linksys BEFSR41 v3 a while ago and im having some problems...again.

Well, my network goes down whenever I run specific apps (like Bittorrent and sometimes Kazaa). The weird thing is that programs like Bittorrent will actually work maybe 1% of the time and cause my network to go down 99% of the time. Programs like Kazaa (and eDonkey) just run incredibly slow (im talking 5KB/s whereas i used to get maybe 250KB/s+ whenever downloading multiple files). Ive used my router settings thing and set my "Port Range Forwarding" options to open up the correct ports but they are still ****ed up. Also, i put in the same settings into the "UPnP Forwarding" page and it doesnt do much. Can anyone explain to me the difference between Port Range and UPnP Forwarding as well as fix my speed/downage problem?

I have the latest firmware. Ive also tried contacting Linksys about my network going down and all they suggested doing was changing the MTU setting to 1450 or 1472. And i cant say that doing that helped much of anything....

Im considering buying another router just to see if the network goes down as well on other routers, cuz then i can blame Shaw

I don't have that exact router, but this Linksys wireless connection grid I have is giving me all sorts of problems. I've heard of others who have excellent success with their home connections, but it isn't through Linksys ports, I've heard more problems about them and experienced many for myself. And their support staff is terrible.

Just a thought, but have you checked your settings on your file sharing progs? It's possibile that they are causing your problems, especially if they have been set-up using your old connection.

Yah, Tawakalna and Mustang, im pretty sure everything is set up correctly.

Also, is it normal for the network to die after changing a router setting? lol, i dont think so.

Yep, i returned it and bought a Dlink DI604. Network doesnt go down anymore. And their support site is a lot more helpful to me than Linksys's.
