I think you can close this thread down now.

Perhaps using your jargon, locked, but then, when was the
last time you saw a padlock on a file?

A padlock on a computer file normally means a secure route,
such as when sending confidential info!

why just lock threads, why not delete them if they are particularly offensive? I'm not suggesting you should, i just want to know why you don't.

If you delete threads sometimes you lose those number of posts that had tallied up your rank. Sometimes you don't, I don't quite understand how the site keeps the tally of deleted posts.
