What is ''sticky''?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

What is ''sticky''?

What does the term 'sticky' mean as used by different people on this site.
I tried a search all forums, but didn't find an answer.

this is when an important thread is put at the top of a forum for all to read

"Make it so Number One"
Captain Picard 'Star Trek the Next Generation'

Ya, it's put on the top of the fourm and can not move down. It's stuck at the top for all to see.

Sticky is when the mods (moderators) permently post the topic. Next time you log into this forum, look at the folder icons, the ones with push tacks in them are sticky. Always the first set of posts...

P.S. Brace youself, possible flames coming. Just put your flame retardent suit on and laugh!

The moderators have alot of power. They can sticky or close threads. They can probably do more. I wouldn't know.

A sticky is when we mods get home, take off our underwears, throw it to the wall and they stick there. That's a sticky. Oh, and mods can also shoot lightning bolts off our finger, not to mention our dreaded Cast Lock Spell (100% effectivity against a flamed/spammed thread).

I thught that was a 'stinky', not a 'sticky', FF.

There's only two types of people who play Freelancer:
-Those who think the Sabre is the best ship;
-Those who are wrong.

Thanks people for your replies. I couldn't make out what that pin thing was on the folders, maybe a hex type star in yellow or red might be a better graphic than a pin. (P.S. I can't help making suggestions, I'm a systems analyst student!)

This belongs in OT instead of FL discussion, so.....

BTW, good one FF

Nah, a pin is very effective, I think.

If you have a bulletin board, generally you keep something up there through th use of a pin, neh? I have no idea how a six-sided yellow star would be a better 'pinned/sticky' image than a pin.

(Btw, why is it 'sticky', and not 'pinned', anyway?)

I think because people have the mental image of stickying a post-its leaf. Come on, when was the last time you actually use a pin and a corkboard? that is sooo out. It is the era of Post-Its, baby! but fridge magnets are still popular as well

Yeah, but yelling at the newbies to go read the "Magnatisies" at the top just doesn't sound right
