The next Freelancer?

I've had a great time playing Freelancer since its release, playing a number of mod as well. Although like all great things it must come to a end. I'm all Freelancer out. I 'found' this game a couple days ago:

Darkseed, this post actually belongs in the Off Topic forum. X2 is not to be compared to FL, as they are totally different games. It´s just a matter of taste in regards to these two games. We have had several X2 vs FL discussions, so I´m not going to repeat all the differences between the two games. Instead, you could try and search for more info on this matter through the Search Forums option. Hopefully you´ll find some answers there

X2 slows to a crawl on my comp when it renders city and landscapes, but it otherwise okay.

Has there been any word on a sequel to Freelancer, or even whether or not the game managed to recoup its costs?

I'd imagine FL did well enough, it stayed in most top 10 sales list for a while. No word on a sequel yet but i'd be suprised if they didn't make one.
