It is a bit of a wierd one that, I actually don't class it as a new game cause the engine is identical (except for some very minor bits and pieces) to Outcast (which is a modified Q3 engine not THE Q3 engine). But then on the other hand it's not an add-on pack either (which it should have been).
And then on a third hand if it does deserve a number, it shouldn't really be JK3 but Dark Forces 4. But that all really depends on whether LucasArts considers Dark Forces a different series in which case it would be Jedi Knight 2 as the original Jedi Knight was Dark Forces 2.
Hands up if your confused.

@White, i AM right. i DO know the series: Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Mysteries of the Sith, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy.
I KNOW the game is stand alone, i KNOW raven is selling it as a stand alone game, but in respects to technology, changes, etc. its synonymous with add on packs. 90% of the game is a direct copy-paste job from JK2, theres just new levels, new force powers, new characters. Kenn Hoekstra (PR guy for Raven) told the community that this is NOT jk3 though.

I'm surprised that so far nobody seems to have mentioned Sam & Max 2. The first game in ten years that might be able to hold a candle to DoTT (Day of the Tentacle) ... Ego/tactic shooters are a dime a dozen nowadays, and whether Stalker, Doom 3 and Halflife 2 will be able to survive their own hype remains to be seen.

P.S. @ Fear Factor: ISTR there is a new EU ruling whereby only certain wines actually originating from some Portuguese province or other are allowed to be labelled as 'port'. So you may want to change your title or prepare to hand another batch of hefty fees to your hordes of lawyers.

1. Splinter Cell 2....am looking forward to lots of new goodies
2. SOCOM 2....i just loved the first so much
3. Syphon Filter 4....ive heard theyll have co-op missions online where you actually can stragegize
4. Metal Gear Solid 3....hope they dont include another surfer boy with blonde hair
5. Soul Calibur 2....though im not crazy about link
6. SSX3....i played the first two for months
7. True Crime....everything you do effects the rest of the game
8. Driver 3....oh boy oh boy the other two were pretty ugly but this one will be on gamecube so it must be pretty
9. Medal of Honor Rising Sun....need i say why
10. Need For Speed Underground....i just hope they arent being literal
11. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon....i wanna walk on leaves mommy

Think of it like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, or Final Fantasy X-2. It's a side story.

If you went on the basis of its engine, you'd have to call DOOM 2, Quake 2, and a whole bunch of other crap "stand-alone add-ons".

It's a side story, guys, not an add-on. If anything should convince you that it's not an add-on, it should be the price tag.

@arcon - some on there are comp games and nintendo just owns you all. sure you have ur ps2 and xbox and sure nintendo has a small library of games but what it lacks in quantity it sure makes up in quality. Metroid Prime and F-Zero GX have some kickass graphics. Not to mention soul caliber 2 on gamecube.

@heretic: hey, dont get me wrong, i love nintendo, i love their commitment to quality and rarely churn out a sub standard game, i was just making an observation is all.

@Bhurak: YES, i KNOW its not an add on pack. its a side story, but i like to think of it as an add on pack so i dont feel like ive been cheated by lucasarts. the game COULD have been an add on pack. & doom 2 & quake 2 had their own new engines anyway so what are you on about
