alpha centauri/alien crossfire

ok i know they arent stunning now but does anyone still play these games
my p4 laptop wont let me play them as it says the "processor" is not compatable !
pity ,but i can still play on the desktops and it makes a change to "realtime" games
you spill a lot less coffee as well

the add ons in crossfire are well worth it i would give it another try
some of the factions you could dowload and play were fun ie the M$ faction
though they could only achieve victory through world domination if i remember rightly
but the list of add on factions were half the fun of the game as most were designed with a bit of humour in mind

I play Alpha Centauri just fine. i got that processor warning as well (its common with older games) take no notice its just the old diagnostics and benchmarkers cant always recognise the new cpus. Dont worry about it.

the 2600xp its fine on its just the 2.6p4 laptop that wont let it install
let alone run
but i can live with that as long as it plays on something

SMAC is good IMHO, the best startegy game I've played.

there is a win xp compatability patch, search for it on google, i cant belive you didnt think of it for ureself

i have never needed a patch for it to run on xp its just my p4 laptop the game hates
ive 7 other pcs ranging from 1800xp to 2800xp all with win xp and it runs on all of them, just not the 1 lonely pentium i possess

FF: Yes, I beleve I tried that one and it starts up and I can play, for about two minutes orso and then it goes Error, crash to desktop. I forgot the error, it's been a while since I tried.

Nickless are you trying centauri or with the add on crossfire
as ive only tried with the add on on xp come to think of it

Never got the add on. It seems it's only for Mac.
