How do I know when i have gone too far...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

How do I know when i have gone too far...

with overclocking?

I have a ATI AIW Radeon 7500 64 mb card.
These were the speeds before overclocking:
258.8 MHz Core/ 180.0MHz Memory.

My Score was an 85 3Dmarks

After overclocking:
330.75 MHz Core/ 216.00 Mhz Memory

My Score was 296 3Dmarks

Quite an Improvement, but I want to be sure that I didn't over do it. Don't want a burned card. Although It would give me a reason to upgrade

Thanks for any advise you can offer.

You know you've overclocked it if you see smoke billowing out of your computer...

No, this is not a "best ship" thread. Hold your fire.

I don't want it to go that far...

i had a friend of mine that had a graphics card that warned if it got too hot. the comp shuts down like 10seconds after. you'll know if you've gone too far if either:
1) smoke starts billowing out of somewhere within the depths of ur comp
2) when ur comp starts, a msg pops up sayin ur grphics card is at 90'C <WARNING>

generally speaking Xeno stick to about a 25% to 33% increase in clock speeds, I've found that to be a safe increase; u get noticeable extra performance without instability or unexpected weirdness. In theory u can overclock up to anything (just like tuning a car) but the higher u go the shorter it lasts and the more unstable it gets.

for example, my PIV 2.4 is ocd to 2.8 and is rock solid but if I up it to 3.0 it dies very quickly. I also keep my RAM and AGP clocks in step so they are ocd to about the same proportion too. I chuck in a slight extra voltage for overclocking as well, just adds an extra incentive for stability.

2.4 runs @ 2.8, 133 fsb upped to 150
300 mem runs @ 366
266 agp runs @ 333

I hope u r using a dual bios mobo, these are invaluable when ocing experiments go tits up, the system just recovers to its original settings.

I looked into ur particular card and you can get that up to 333/233 no problems, just keep it cool like uv bin told and u will b fine.

i good investment if you are going to clock a card is one of the little flat fans that sit in the space above the agp port in your case / mobo they can noticeably drop the card temp even helps a bit with the cpu temp as the card dumps almost all its heat outside the case
i dont know where you get them in the US but in the uk ive only managed to get them from maplins

I still say crank that f**ker up, man.... I think it's funny as hell when a computer bursts into flames.... especially yours. *L*
