Better connection and a Q about nicknames

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I loved Sapphire and Steel, the one set in the railway station absolutely terrified me when the "dark" came. Of course I remember it!

Cool!

and about the connection: What can I say, Broadband isn't available in this area of Holland, they're kinda slow , and why I chose a slower connection? it's all about the money guys
I'm just waiting for Fiberoptics to land in the deserted Soest (you can look that up ) until then, this works for me.

oh, and my previous nick was Cracker, but that was more of a private nick.
And I actually first regestered myself as Anubis_Fighter, but I suffered from the disability to log in to TLR. Apearantly the _ was the prob, but why, I don't know till this day, for I've seen more nicks with a _, but it doesn't matter anyway.

isn't Soest where there is/was a big American airbase that had F15s?

I see ur point, yes it is all about the money at the end of the day. As long as there isn't too much contention on ur DSL line ur 256k should be ok for most uses (but online gaming will chug a bit) plus in Holland u arent using BT who are lame.

About my nickname: I swear to my mom's chocolate chip cookies, I didn't get mine from that horrible reality show. There was this super cheesy pop-band from my childhood called Fun Factory, and I wanted an exact opposite image.

Mine comes part from the Borg. I still align myself with them partially
but the original I had in mind was also my second sig.:

Lord Darth Locutus.

But I held it down to Locutus.Anyone who is here long enough to remember my first signature knows what the Borg part is.

mine is self-explanatory...lol
nothing deep. I go by lots of names in different places, but in FL i go by Goddess.
In TFC I go by different variations of the name..FlagGoddess, RocketGoddess, whatever tickles my fancy at the time
my friends usually just call me Gracie because i'm pretty clumsy, but I got tired of that always being my user name.
One of my buddies in TFC suggested Goddess, so I went with it
And I hate all the girly names girls use.

My nickname comes from the days when I thought The Sims was mildly exciting. I wanted to create a photo album of some superhero guy. So completely on the spur of the moment, I came up with Jim Groovester. Then I was robbed, and the robbers took the computer, Nintendo 64, a big CD case with lots of old games, and the Sims CD case. So for a few years I couldn't play the sims. Last christmas, I got the Sims Deluxe for some God knows reason, and I remembered Jim Groovester. I thought the name was kewl, so I put into NOLF 2 as my screename (as opposed to my first screenname, KX). Thus the legend of Jim Groovester was born.

I believe I explained my nick somewhere before, but anyway...
A friend of mine gave it to me (he thought it suited me). It's a Russian (or Slavonic, in wider sense) word that means "evil". No, I'm not. It's just easy to remember.

Mine should be pretty easy. Thats how I play all my games, as a living Killzone. I kill everything in reach. Especially when I play Vice City. Mark my words.
No idea how but my mate got the name Horus for some unknown reason....

Me:Ok One last chance to surrender!
Enemy:WHAT! We outnumber you 6 to 1!
Me: Maybe I could drop some weapons to make it easier for you!

I coudldn't help but post here, sorry to bring up a near-dead topic, BUT.

Xeno = stranger or strange thing
Cide = the killing of or the death of something
Xenocide = oblivion of either strangers or strangeness

I'm guessing you just tacked on forme for the fun of it, lol, or that is was already taken.

I've read the entire series, and my nickname on about 99% of everywhere else I am known as Xenocide or Xenocidal, so =P

Anachronox means what the sig says it means, poison from the past, and it wasn't that bad of a game.

For anyone who cares, I'll break down my name:
Ana = past (in a sense)
Chron = time
Nox = poison
Anachronox = Poison from the Past

Edit: just noticed I hit Captain, yay.
EDIT#2: I didn't mean this post to be rude, sorry if it offended you Xenocideforme.

Poison From The Past

I have tasted the flesh of fallen angels... I've tasted the Devil's green blood. It runs in my veins. I've seen beyond the world of skin, The architecture of blood and bone marrow... Death is coming... She is coming, and Hell follows with her! This is the Twilight Winter... I am ready to be her son! Her time is now, and all whostand in her way... MUST DIE!!!" -Jack Lupino

I normaly go under TopGun, but that name was already taken when I joined the forum, so I had to add a - to it. Anyway TopGun or Top-Gun stems from the Callsign I used for the WC games (TopGun), and that callsign stems from the Top Gun movie.

"A TopGun through and through"

Many people think I got my name from the ´Anuld´ movie, but I have to say......hell no ! That movie was lame beyond belief.

Anyway, I used this nick since I first played Wing Commander on the SNES (1993), so that´s 3 years before the movie Eraser came out. I thought it sounded way more cool that my WC character doesn´t just kill Kilrathi, but ´erases´ them from existence Therefore my character became The (Kilrathi) Eraser or just Eraser in short.

BTW, I also created a cool hotmail address accompanying the nick, [email protected] ! Heh he

(lovin' the sapphire and steel reference by the way - that used to scare me senseless as a kid)

My name is actually my nickname in real life too. My friends gave it me sometime around 95/96. It is of course (for those who don't know) one half of "Wallace and Gromit", Nick Park's amazing plasticine creations. He's a dog, that says nothing but knows astrophysics and reads modern philosophy. He's cool so I was happy to adopt the name.

A gromit by the way is something that doctors can shove in your ear when you have earwax, but also a small piece of metal used in engineering.

Nowadays my name is quite popular so you may see me logging onto sites as "gromitboy" (the imposters! how dare they!!).
