Better connection and a Q about nicknames

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Better connection and a Q about nicknames

Finally, I upgraded this terible 56K connection of mine.
256K ADSL now, I know it's not broadband, but it's a lot better than before.
So, naturally I tried MP for the first time. It was fun actually and I couldn't help but smile when I got helped out by some guy who called me a n00b, never been a noob before
Anyway, just thought I'd share

btw, I've allways wanted to know, what do all your nicknames stand for?
Mine means nothing special, just that I couldn't think of a nickname so I concidered myselff Nickless

Cheers!

Mine was originally Sibot, from my name Simon. The first thing I did was make a hotmail account but Sibot was already taken so I tried Sybot and that wasnt. (actually Sybot87 was the one that wasnt but thats not the point)

ooohhhhh........... just do an internet search and you will have your answer!

I'd be bothered about the 256k if i were you, Nick. ok its 5 times faster than a 56k modem but whats the contention ratio? if its 50:1 at peak times and youre approaching saturation itll chug like a dog with no legs (seriously) if you want to stand it it I'd highly recommend you up that to 512k and even that can be moky

NTL are doing a 150k for £9-99.. why bother unless youre borassic? my Mrs works for BT and she brought home this offer of 150K for £17-99, i told her to stick it in the bin, 150k isnt even worth entertaining. I went for 1mb cable from NTL, I'd have got 2mb but mar lady wunna wear it.

i just recently (last week) upgraded to broadband.
no wonder ive posted so much this last week!

mine comes from a person i met on the first freelancer server i went to. then it changed its name and got a password so then i went to calgary.
the person i met? his name was silent wolf.
my first name was destroyer!!?? how stupid!
then i thought of a cool wolf name, therefore getting wolf_demon
so if u see any wolf demons anywhere else... its probably me

sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me!

I got a fairly good dsl connection for $45.99 a month. 300+ Download, 126+ Upload.

I want to upgrade to Cable for just $5 more a month. But i did just get my Lynksis network up and running perfectly, so i don't want to curse it.

@ Tawakalna-
1. Network working okay?
2. Your name is from an Iraqi Republican Guard?

As for my name: Made it up after reading the book Xenocide by Orson Scott Card. The name means kill some aliens for me.

yes Xeno it's working fine m8, thanks for your help!

yes my nick is from that source, not for the reasons most might think, i thought it was a cool name in itself and also they stood and fought despite being hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned and i rather liked the sound of that, even though they got totally wiped out. i know thats happened in lots of other battles in history but 91 that was about when i first started dealing with the internet (14.4 modems and BBS zzzzzzzzzzz) so it rather appealed to me at the time and has stuck ever since. still like it and cant be bothered to change it after 12 years

(incidentally no-one please accuse me of being a traitor as I did my bit in '82 plus I got reserved during the 1st Gulf war)

--Agree With ARCON Week--

Post Sat Aug 30, 2003 4:41 am

is it still agree with arcon week? or is it the new agree with arcon week?

anyway, my name is from a long line of name evolution.
I first went on the internet about 5 years ago and didnt really do anything, but at the time i thought the sum of the internet was emails and yahoo chat.
Anyway, i needed something to call myself so i plumped with 'Xen'.
Now it was gonna be Zen, but like all names people bagged it eons ago, so i went with Xen, which was also take, so i went with Lord_xen.
That stuck for a few months...then half life came out.
I changed my name then when i was in a star wars role playing chat room and i called myself "arconius qel droma" (my backstory being a long descendent from cay qel droma). anyway, that was all good and well for a bit, and then i got bored of chat rooms and went elsewhere. i couldnt keep the "qel droma" bit cause it just sounded gay. so it was just arconius.
then when i played team fortress people couldnt type arconius out quick enough so they just wrote "arcon".
and after about a second of deleberation i stuck with arcon.
and so the legend was born, forged on the battlefield of 2fort

my nick *kimk* came when i was first usin yahoo.. kim was taken eons ago.. since ther's so many koreans lying around.. so i stuck another k at the end. thats about end of story. as for my e-mail add.. i was lookin at the cover of lake placid. back then i didn't kno what placid meant, i looked it up, then thought it sounded cool.. stuck it on.. then i looked for a cool predator.. liked cheeta.. so i put it on.. surprisingly no one had taken it so bye to anoying numbers at the end.

I picked up a dictionary, flicked through the pages, stopped at random and chose the coolest sounding name on the page, thus wast born Recusant!!!
I know, i know the story behind my nickname is real deep!
It's actual meaning is someone who resists and fights authority. That's me, a real rebel

Steel comes from the tv program i loved years ago with David McCallum and Joanna Lumley called Sapphire and Steel (now who remembers that one)

Mine comes from my love of Star Wars and the fact I'm a romantic. I've always like Jedi Knights. I've always admired King Arthur's knights and Don Quixote. Those are Knights Errant. But the two together and cancel out the redundant knight, you get jedierrant.

jedierrant

Saving damsels in distress,
Defending the defenseless,
Fighting for the underdog,
Don Quixote in an X-wing.
