pc imitating console or console imitating pc?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

pc imitating console or console imitating pc?

This phantom thing is freaking me out. Is it a console or just a pc crammed into a little box? I think we may be getting to the point where the PC and console community are going to merge into one. The question is who will assimilate who?

New generation consoles are trying to have more functionalities, like an internet option, a DVD player etc. This is all to try to convert PC players to consoles, because many PC players also want internet access, DVD playability etc. Of course they also want to give loyal console players more functionalities to make sure they stay loyal console players. Besides, the console business is one giant heap of brutal competition, so console creators are cramming there babies full with all kinds of features to stay ahead of competition. So yes, consoles are imitating PC´s, but I don´t think they will assimilate PC´s. The market for PC gaming is way to big and to stubborn to let it be assimilated.

trouble with consoles is you dont have the same fun deciding what bits to buy and the fun of building them

yeah, pc's are like cars, people buy them, modify them, tweak them, spray paint them, overclock them so theyre just right.
PCs are fun like that, consoles are rubbish.

I wont be surprised to see a console coming out soon wich you can USB into your PC.

it would make more sense for them to sell high spec PCs with a dual-boot option, so you can either boot it into windows or if you prefer you can set it up to boot into a games OS.

lets face it, the Xbox is just a cut down PC - you can run Linux on it so presumably you could run Windows on it.

what it comes down to is corporations like MS who want to sell more PCs by spray painting them a different colour and flogging them to kids...they'll never combine the two, as easy as it is, because they make more money if they are seperate.

dfunny you should say that, there is an xbox emulator that has a dual boot system, where it restarts in the Xbox dashboard. pretty sweet

UHOH
I assume youve read the PA report on it.
If not, it brings to light some truths: PA-LINK (Scroll Down a bit)
'Phantom' game console is really a copyright protection device....conspiracy!!!

It's fake. Even if it was true, it would be a spectacularly failed attempt to build a console imitating the PC. By the way, stop linking to PA if it has naughty words in it.

I remember that there was an Amstrad that had a Built-In Mega Drive
