strangest advert you''ve ever seen?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Altho not weird, anyone from UK remember the Reebok advert about the guy trying to get away from the sofa.

Or the other Reebok one with the huge hairy belly bouncing around after the guy. Comedy.

Not really wierd but...
I read somewhere that the shortest advert ever was only a few frames long (not even half a second). It was banned because it influenced people subconciously without them knowing that they had ever seen it.

Yeah its called "subliminal advertising". they tried it out in the 70s by putting a single frame flash inbetween each advert. Most people didn't even know it was happening, so when they found out there was an uproar. baring in mind that it was cold-war-time, the idea of "brainwashing" wasn't met with friendly response. So it eventually got banned....but the advertisers that used the method showed proof that their sales had shot up by large amounts during the time of the trial. Its mad that your brain can take stuff in like that.

There's a really cool guy called "derren brown" that many of the people in the Uk would recognise(http://www.derrenbrown.co.uk). He amazes people by "reading their minds"...but he's not like the usual tacky performers that are around, he openly says that he is not psychic, he is just a master of body language. And a master he is, apparently he can tell by the way your eyes move what letters you are thinking of. He's so confident of his skills that he is going to be doing russian roullette live on tv with a member of the public next month. he's openly asking for anyone who thinks they can hide their body language to take up the challenge....ANYWAY...the reason why I'm telling you all this...

He did a really cool trick on 2 leading UK marketing execs a few months ago. He arranged to bring them to a building in London to meet with him. He sent a cab for them, picked them up and brought them over. Then he set them a challenge. he put in front of them a sealed envelope with his ideas for a "new taxidermy company" and told them not to look in it. He gave them an hour to come up with a company name, a logo and a slogan. Then when he came back after an hour he matched their ideas with the ideas in the envelope - and surprise surprise they matched perfectly....logo, name and slogan. So then he shows how he did it, the tape rewinds and shows their taxi journey to the building again. the whole journey was set up to give them subliminal messages. there are posters on walls that they'd pass at 40 miles an hour, school kids wearing logos on their shirts, newspaper cuttings on the floor....all things they wouldn't have realised they were taking in...but their brains obviously were. very cool. check out his site...derrenbrown.co.uk

sorry that this was ever-so-slightly off topic, but I thought it might interest you all as someone brought up the whole subliminal advertising thing...

There was this ad in Australia, where this guy was watching TV about a metre away from him, doing nothing while his girlfriend is busily working in the background. The phone rings and its right next to him but he doesn't answer, and the gf comes over in fury and says hello....

So, the guy raises his mobile to his hand and says, "While your up, can you change the channel..."

Classic.
