One thing tho...You know the nephew who is banished from Rohan...well when he meets the posse(Aragorn Legolas and the dwarf) he has like 30 men with him. But at the end battle someone claims he has 2,000. I know you could say that yes maybe he was just going out with a patrol or something but still, managing to get 2,000 men in the space of say 2 days is pretty slim.

In the book, it was the main army of Rohan led by Erkenbrand, they were supposed to draw the orcish army away but the uruk-hai simply bypassed them and went straight to the Deep. They never bothered mentioning Erkenbrand in the movie though.

And what was the whole deal with cavalry charging a stationary line of pikes and spears? it's just wrong, I tell ya. WRONG! ask Napoleon, Oda Nobunaga, or any random competent Total War player. The cavalrymen should've been slaughtered.

But I have to agree with you on your second point. What the hell is Gandalph doing charging at the head of 2,000 men with only a staff into an army of just below 10,000. If things went correctly to warfare tactics, Gandalph would currently be dead.

There is that one quick scene where you see a guy on his horse stopped by the wall of lances. I was thinking to myself, "Good Extra Good Boy had a treat Your the only clever one here!!!!"

But of course they could say that the downward slope (Which by the way is almost vertical) would give the riders some help. Also 2,000 cav charging down that hill would frighten anyone...I thought the uruk-hai were supposed to show no fear they were tough as nails and so on and so on.

Also, during this great charge and slaughter, what are the chances of Aragorn and King of Rohan's small group of about 40 men gonna do. They are miles away from Gandalph with 10,000 guys between them. I'm pretty sure they would be dead by now.

Oh but I love the film

the point was the timing and position. gandalf came down the mountain at the exact time that the sun rose over the hill, so the uruk-hai looking up were blinded temporarily, so the riders of rohan had a quick advantage. Plus Gandalf is Istari (sp?) so might be a bit more durable.

sod the realism, I thought Aragorn, Theodin and the rest charging onto the causeway at Helm's Deep was really moving. I def. had a lump in my throat at that point. Good old fashioned bravery and heroism.

Mind you, are they as brave as those little rabbits in Watership Down? so brave, and just like real people

hmmm? maybe, i thought the "last march of the ents" was good, real couragous, but yeah, the charge of aragorn was good, propper, manly war

I finished The Fellowship of thge Ring (Book) for the first time yesturday and now on Chapter Two of The Two Towers

I´m still halfway the first book Quite frankly, I don´t have a great lot of time to read lately, so...

i was re-reading the books, but i leant the two towers book 1 to a girl i knew and she didnt give it back, so now my 7 part collection is now missing a book and i cant read any more until i get it back.
