Two Towers Ships

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

i watched the first movie in theater, then read the hobbit and the trilogy, then started the silmarillion, but by that time school was starting, so i had to quit.

i wish i'd read the books first though...they're so much better

I agree. While Peter Jackson is doing a good job with the movies, he simply cant film everything.

I think the Silmarillion is probably unfilmable, because it's not a story like the Trilogy, it's a saga and is written as such. I'd like it because I like the style of old legends but it wouldn't work in a film for mass entertainment. My daughter who has loved LOTR since she was about 5 (now 15) absolutely hates the Silmarillion.

..you think you're done with the past; but the past isn't done with you..

i still can't pronounce 'silmarillion' off the top of my head. takes me about 20secs to get it right. used to say 'similarion' from 'similar'

Well I'm glad to say that I got the DVD of TTT in April this year, which was nice.

Yes its a pirate but its a perfect pirate. It is just the film no extra's but I never really check out the extra's.

I have a choice of languages between Russian and English which is nice. Altho the Russian guy sounds like he is in the middle of something with his woman while narrating...

But the film is damn good especially at the end.

One thing tho...You know the nephew who is banished from Rohan...well when he meets the posse(Aragorn Legolas and the dwarf) he has like 30 men with him. But at the end battle someone claims he has 2,000. I know you could say that yes maybe he was just going out with a patrol or something but still, managing to get 2,000 men in the space of say 2 days is pretty slim.

(I can hear you saying poetic licence and all that so I will stop with my why does it not fit into reality convo.)

He had other men out, they didn't just form one big mass patrolling Rohan. Also, him and Gandalf probably went around picking up more men (heh) before they got there.

this lengthening of film running times bothers me, esp. as so many of them are films that you take the sprogs to see. Off you go the multiplex, q. up for yonks, stock up on yer popcorns and drinks after getting hammered on the ticket prices anyway, make em go for a pee b4 the film starts, they sit through a Pearl n Dean then the trailers then the feature starts, and theyve got to sit there for 3 hours or more? and not need a slash? you cant do it easily yourself so how are the tinies supposed to manage?

bring back intermissions, I want my Kia-Ora and Walls tubs and a chance to nip out for a fag.

Well i can eaisly hold it for atleast 5 hours, so I am for them extending it.

You got to remember, they are slashing this story left and right just to get it down to 3hours

I dont have a problem with them xtending it, just give us a break in the middle. I have to chog about 5 Luckies down b4 I go in just so I'll last!

How about having some will power and not drinking 150 ounces of Diet Coke in the first 30 minutes of the screening? Sorry, but I usually have little sympathy for people who simply can't understand why they shouldn't drink so damn much when going to movies. People getting up and moving around is distracting, and theres usually at least one that is sitting right in front of you that has to go.
