U don't say. We get ripped off every which way. Blair and Brown might say that inflation is down and the cost of living is stable but i check our "shopping basket" every week as I make the wife shop at Aldi so as to keep the costs down and I've noticed an average increase on the same purchases over 18 months from about £50 to £65 which is a hell of a percentage increase. Funny how petrol never comes down even when there's a "glut" of oil.
Speeding fines? indirect taxation if you look at where the cameras are often located. Insurance? also taxed. Road tax? we pay it ostensibly for the maintenance of the road system (along with council tax) yet Toll roads are being built. National congestion charges? yeah right. Now Blair wants to microchip our cars so we can all be fined for being naughty.
Cds DVDs n games, all cheaper in America. Why? because the British public will allow themselves to be ripped off. I know people who fly to the States with empty suitcases to buy clothes because they save so much that it pays for their plane fare!
average pay rises for non-directors this year have been about 3% and for most people that didnt even cover the cost of the council tax hike which in our case was over 11%.
