Direct X 9 Problem?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Direct X 9 Problem?

I recently bought and installed a Leadtek FX5900 128Mb and I've started having a strange problem with games that use DX9 functionality.
What happens is when I exit a game my desktop becomes corrupted. Everything still works, whereby I can log off and shutdown using keyboard commands but the desktop looks like it's been put through a blender and then randomly splattered all over my screen.
This only seems to happen with games that use DX9 (ie freelancer and a few of the freebies I recieved with the card). I've tried using 44.03 and 45.23 drivers with no success. Has anyone heard of a similar problem or know of a fix?

EDIT: Oh and I tried DX 9a and 9b.

i used to have that kinda problem, basically, the screen looked like it was all diagonals but this only happened when i swiched to a higher screen resolution like 1280 x 1024.

I'm afraid i dont have any help advice cause all i did was crank it down to lower, but it WAS triggered by ending a game.

if your in a higher resolution, try doing the same thing in a lower setting

try tech support, it seems like you have given it your best do-it-yourself effort

"Twice and Twice shall he be marked,
twice to live and twice to die.
Once the heron, to set his path.
Twice the heron, to name him
true.
Once the Dragon, for remembrance lost.
Twice the Dragon, for the price he must pay."

I'm not sure... I don't think it's a DirectX issue... Maybe the drivers...?
You probably already know this, but when you want to upgrade to a newer version of Detonator drivers, you must first uninstall the ones that you currently have. Otherwise, you get strange problems...
Maybe it's overheating. Did you overclock your card? ( admit it! ) Doublecheck the fan. Make sure you didn't crank up the memory clock (too high).
If none of the above matches your case/needs, visit Guru3D forums, they might be able to help you...

Careful what you wish... You might just get it.

Thanks for the link Chetnik, I was looking for that site and Im not going to overclock this one, im pretty sure Nvidia have already done it for me.

EDIT: It looks like XP was the problem, I was doing some random maintanence and finally got around to installing Service Pack 1 and it whatever it updated it seems to have done the trick.
