Just a little warning, rank means nothing here, in other words don't spam just to become an admiral, you'll lose a lot of respect instead. There's no cash prize or the ability to become a mod at the end of it.
The ranks and the number of posts required to reach them are posted below:
5 Recruit
5-25 2nd Lieutenant
25-50 1st Lieutenant
50-80 Flight Lieutenant
80-115 Captain
115-160 Flight Captain
160-225 Lt. Commander
225-300 Commander
300-400 Flight Commander
400-500 Sqdr. Commander
500-650 Major
650-800 Lt. Colonel
800-900 Colonel
900-1400 Commodore
1400-2500 Port Commodore
2500-4000 Rear Admiral
4000-6000 Vice Admiral
6000- Fleet Admiral

there is no admiral, that is a rank preserved for mods only. and from my point you have a long way to go

Basically you get more respect the longer you have been a regular here, which makes sense the longer you are around the better people know you and the more they tend to like you.

ranks are just as useless as post count. the rank gives no privilages, or special treatment, its the guys that contribute inteligently and sensibly that get respect, like real life. The rank system is kinda blown way out of hand with some people who think that just because people have a higher count they are more important. Thing is, people with higher counts generally have learned the way to behave by then, so only post intelligent items, however, the spammers race to get a good postcount and end up turning out crap time and again.

a tip, dont pay ANY attention to post count or rank. Use it only as a guide to let you know how often a guy posts on the forum.
