Computer Questions

I was wondering if I should upgrade my power supply. Here is what I have:

(1) AMD Athlon XP Processor 2100+ with QuantiSpeed Architecture
(2) 512MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM Memory
(1) 80GB Ultra ATA (7200rpm) Hard Drive
(1) 24x10x40 CDRW Gray
(1) 16X DVD Drive
(1) 250 Watt Power Supply
(1) Lower Bezel
(1) 10/100 PCI Ethernet Adapter
(1) 3 port PCI Firewire card
(1) Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Sound Card
(1) 3.5" 1.44 MB Floppy Drive
(1) Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
(1) ATX Chassis
(1) Dolphin USB Camera
(1) ATI AIW Radeon 7500 64mb ddr

Your imput would help a lot. I don't know a lot about electricity.

I was thinking more like 400 Wats. I wan't to put in an extra Harddrive for backup.

Thanks again.

Your definately giving your power supply a good work out. You'd probably be okay for an extra Hard Drive, but If you have the cash get yourself a 350 minimum.

A pretty top of the line machine. How does 7500 do with FL?

It does wonderfully, 30 FPS at 1280 x 786 x 32, maximum graphics/detail.

I belive it does so well because of the 1Gb of DDR ram that i have.

Thank you for the tips.

I have a slight fuller case, so would say yes But if and when you do buy a new PSU get a good make. Don't buy cheap rubbish, I bought a cheapo 400w for a case and put my then new PC in it and always had problems cause of lack of power. Others locally had problems with there PC's with the same setup, namely graphics card{GF3ti200}, which was sourced as the fault gladly I didnt replace it. I then got a branded 300w PSU which has never given problems, so same as mobo's dont stint on it as your PC Needs it work 100%.

So 350w minimum ideally 400-450 but the best you can afford.
