Name your favorite era and place

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Name your favorite era and place

If you could live in another time and place of our past history, where would it be?

I'd like to live in art-deco New York circa 1930s. Swing big bands, baby!
Second favorite era and place is mid 16th century Japan's Edo or Kyoto. Preferably as someone with samurai status, though, coz being a peasant at that era kinda sucked.

I'd be a member of the Knights Templar during the Crusades in the 12th century. I'd have to be a Seargent since I can't prove my nobility through 5 generations. It would be a tough life of poverty, chastity, and obedience, but I'd be the horror of the infidel and the savior of each pilgrim to the Holy Land.

17th Century sailing around the cape in an english man o' war and raiding dutch merchant vessels for thier vast booty and comely wenches.

But I have to admit the 20's/30's art-deco era was exceptionally cool, but I can't dance to save myself so I have to count it out.

I would like to be in 16th Century Japan also.

The Era was called the Sengoku Jidai. Huge civil wars between clans. The largest battle of the time was when Tokugawa Ieyasu who became Shogun in the end defeated his rival a year or two after he became Shogun. He called upon some 180,000 warriors to fight against an enemy of 80,000.

In the year 1603 (I think) thats not half bad for a standing army on call.

This era prompted me to buy the game Shogun Totalwar which was pretty damn good except the graphics for the battle mode were a bit poor compared to what can be produced now.

It was the era of the samurai. Loyal men who gave their lives for the Lord who bought their services.

Huge hand-to-hand fighting battles and the like. Very cool.

Right here, right now.

I can eat like the king's of old for 18 dollars and 99 cents. I can demand the theatre come to me anytime I wish, and the calibre of the actors is nothing less than world-class. I can travel the globe at a whim using nothing other than a peice of plastic. The wenches are stellar, having all their teeth (and white ones at that), spunky attitudes, the finest fasions in purple, and red, and un ungodly ability to sculpt their bodies to their liking. I laugh at the black plague, it having being beaten in my youth with a single needle. The list of my daliances is long, and yet unmarred by illegitimate children. My word is like onto God's, in that it carries forth across the land so that any man may hear it if he chooses; from Rome to the americas in the blink of an eye. I am a powerful man, keeping a stable of over 200 horses, all under the hood of my car.

Hey, and that's just me; the common man. If I was to imagine myself a knight of old - a select breed - I might as well imagine myself as a rich investor in this day and age. Or a sport's star.. Ahh yes, we have it good.

EDIT: Yeah, Jedi era would be cool, but since it's not of our past history, and is pretty unlikely to be in our future, I figure it was disqualified.

No, you're not allowed to do anything to change history. Just where and when you'd like to live alternatively. This is not about time travel or prescience.
